White Sox fans, might the leadoff hitter & starting second baseman for the Southsiders be headed for the disabled list? For the last 2 games of this weekend series vs. Toronto, you may have noticed Brent Lillibridge starting at second base ahead of Chris Getz. Chris was a late scratch from yesterday's game due to a right middle finger injury suffered during warmups, and was not in the lineup this afternoon vs. Roy Halladay. According to Comcast SportsNet's Chris Boden, Getz went for X-rays on the finger, and what was originally a bruise has now been revealed to be a fracture. Getz suffered the finger injury practicing double plays, and right now claims that it's hard to throw & get any grip on the bat. With Wilson Betemit the only other backup infielder, Jayson Nix may be activated in the event Getz needs to be DL'd. Nix, sidelined since the end of Spring Training with a quad injury, is currently on a rehab assignment at Triple "A" Charlotte. Although I think he should be wearing #6, the former Colorado Rockie is hitting 5-for-13 with 5 RBI's. He may get the call-up ahead of Gordon Beckham, even though he's hitting .297 at Double "A" Birmingham, and Ozzie would prefer that Beckham stay in the minors for the whole season.
