White Sox designate Mike MacDougal for assignment; Recall Jack Egbert from Class AAA Charlotte CHICAGO -- Prior to tonight's game at Baltimore, the Chicago White Sox designated right-handed reliever Mike MacDougal for assignment and recalled right-hander Jack Egbert from Class AAA Charlotte. MacDougal, 32, was 0-0 with a 12.46 ERA (6 ER/4.1 IP) and seven walks in five games with the White Sox this season. Egbert, 25, went 1-0 with a 6.43 ERA (5 ER/7.0 IP) in five relief appearances with Charlotte. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder allowed nine hits, walked two and struck out six while working exclusively out of the bullpen for the first time in his career. He has gone 40-36 with a 3.35 ERA (249 ER/669.2 IP) and 595 strikeouts in 134 games (113 starts) over five minor-league seasons since being selected by the White Sox in the 13th round in 2004 draft. Egbert's best season came in 2007 with Class AA Birmingham when he was 12-8 with a 3.06 ERA (55 ER/161.2 IP) and 165 strikeouts in 28 starts. He entered the 2008 season ranked by Baseball America as the No. 3 Prospect in the Sox organization. Egbert, who has no major-league experience, will wear uniform No. 62. The White Sox 40-man roster decreases by one to 38. |

Wasn't he designated for assignment last year, only to be brought back after he was 'fixed' I hope he stays away from the big leagues for a long time, unless kc wants him back |

Other than that, the Jerry Lawler-looking Don Cooper thinks he can get every pitcher wearing the White Sox silver & black uniform to pitch better. MacDougal, Andrew Sisco & Horacio Ramirez, all Kansas City Royals past or present, couldn't pitch right even with Cooper coaching them. |

He's making $2.65 mil this season. No one is going to claim him and it's highly unlikely he'll be traded (unless the Sox take back someone else's crap). Like Chad Gaudin, a team will pick him up for the league minimum and hope for the best. Like Chad Gaudin, they won't get it. |

As a good friend of mine once said, MacDougal must have seen Ozzie murder someone in order to have been given that number of appearances over the past two seasons. |

Spmack, MacDougal was stealing, I mean earning, $2.65 million lighting the fire like Jim Carrey's "Fire Marshal Bill" character used to do on "In Living Color" whenever he was on the mound...Let him ruin another team's bullpen! He's finished here in Chicago...'Nuff said! |

White Sox requested waivers on RHP Mike MacDougal for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. I'm guessing he'll end up in Milwaukee or Texas. |
