Beat the Brewers... not that the Cubs will take advantage of it. |

The way both teams are playing, this series is bound to be full of suck. |

Watch the Sox get healthy against minor league teams over the next couple of weeks even without Konerko, Thome and Quentin. |

The A's and Indians are MLB teams. The same cannot be said of the caliber of competition during this Sox roadtrip. |

They play the Reds this trip. Dusty Baker simply cannot be anything but a minor league skipper. Roll your eyes at that one. |

The minor league Reds took 2 out of 3 from the major league Indians earlier this year. so yes |

Supposed, huh? Please, research the interleague W-L for the AL over the past 5-6 years and then get back to me. I need not even mention the last 3 AL teams to win the WS swept thier inferior NL opponents. |

The paperback edition features a preface titled 'Why is the American League Better Than the National League'. You and several others around here need to read this. They use a lot of computations but here's the gist of it: 'the American League is better than the National league because the American League has better players'. 'The American league started getting better players in 1991 (well AFTER the introduction of the DH) when ' several pitchers migrated to the two teams with the most aggressive recent approach to player acquisition and the biggest recent payrolls, THE NEW YORK YANKEES AND THE BOSTON RED SOX. The spill over effect of the Yanks' and Red Sox's aggressiveness was a keeping-up-with-the-jones effect, with other AL teams becoming more aggressive in chasing free-agent talent'. http://books.google.com/books?id=VsmnfV ... t&resnum=3 |

I'll do your research for you. Courtesy the Afternoon Saloon: The best interleague records since this started in the late 90s: Yankees, A's, Twins, White Sox. Any NL teams up there? Precisely. |

The AL has been the more dominant league the last 4 years, no doubt. But in the first 8 years of interleague play the NL actually had the upper hand 988-959. So yes the AL has been better the last 4 years, but since 1991? There is no proof if you go by on field results. And the WS champion has come from the minor league 2 out of the last 3 years, going 8-2. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/history/interleague/records.jsp |

I really don't, in fact, give a shit either way. The AL is better. Yippie. That and fifty cents will buy you a newspaper. It is laughable that this matters a Goddamned whit to anyone, but if it works for you... |

WS winners the last three years THE NL DOMINATES 2 TO 1 Big fucking deal. Your stat and my stat mean diddly shit. The AL has better players over the last few years. BFD. You can generate stats until your eyes bleed for all I care. I think the entire premise is asinine and jerking your chain (and Keyser's and any other dolt who sets store by the utterly superfluous fact that the AL is currently, marginally, better than the NL) beause it amuses me for the moment. It is cyclical and meaningless. |

Just do your part and beat the Brewers if you can. I truly hope they sweep the series with the Brewers. I'm an ardent Sox fan and fervent believer in the AL's vaunted, masterful superiority over the woebegone, downtrodden NL for that series. |

What's more important...the fact that the league that your team is in is good or that your team is good? I'll hang up and listen for my answer... |

W_Z wrote: Duh...the AL vs. the NL debate. My Dad is Better Than Your Dad is more compelling... THANK YOU! It is, quite possibly, the dumbest argument this board has to offer. Considering the amount of fertilizer produced, that's high praise indeed. Some idiots seem to think it matters a great deal... |

If it gives you an AL inspired stiffy, that's your jollies and have at 'em. Otherwise, it is a superfluous point to make. My humble thanks to the Grand Lords of Baseball from the AL for doing the Cubs a favor. |
