http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/090630&sportCat=nfl Uni Watch lists the Sox as the 5th team out of ten most in need of a uniform overhaul. Personally, I like the current uniforms and have ever since they changed them way back when. I also get the point that the Sox were a team known for their innovative (gimmicky) designs. I find it hard to believe that ownership would start up w/ the changing of designs every few years as the most recent have proven to be fairly popular and have shown staying power for almost 20 years. |

Very limited use of a tertiary color might be nice. Not like the way the Pirates have started using red. |

Bound to be the most controversial choice on this list, but hear Uni Watch out here. True, Chicago's current look is innocuous enough, but the White Sox have been wearing it for nearly 20 years now. When you consider that this is the franchise that gave us the untucked jersey with the leisure suit collar, the shorts, the beach blanket jersey, the uni number on the thigh, and the wacky prototypes that they trotted out in a fashion show -- all within a 12-year period! -- it becomes clear that the Sox are waaaay overdue for a design shakeup. If they won't do something radical, who will? Plus the Uni Watch Executive Council is giving them double points for bad karma, because no team called the White Sox should be wearing black socks. S.U.C.K.itude: 34.5 out of 40. |

The Sox should get this goofy thing off their sleeves: |

I can't read those uni-watch articles. There are just way too many links in the article that would take way too much time to click on. Why can't they just include the pics in the article? It just seems like laziness on the author/web developer's side. They always seem like an interesting read, but I have never made it through one of them. |

Absolutely not! The Chicago White Sox have had one of MLB's biggest selling uniforms since they went to the black & silver in 1990. There are 2 uniform tops I would love to see the Southsiders sport. I wish they would bring back the sleeveless home pinstripe alternate jersey top and/or revive the 1959 throwbacks they wore last Thursday vs. the Dodgers. I've noticed the Indians, Blue Jays & Brewers each have throwback uniform tops & caps that they all wear at least once a week at home. I would definitely like to see the Sox do the same, and the Ranger would love to see the Southsiders sport the '59 duds more often. |

What exactly is wrong with the pinstripes? |

It might be because the red trim around the logo and numbers is not intrusive and there's something about red and black together that looks pretty sharp...as opposed to red and yellow (like the Pirates, as someone mentioned earlier). I'm also a fan of the large numbers on the sleeves. I think they should explore that option. SHARK, I'm not sure, though, I agree with you on the sleeveless. Something American Legion about those. |

I'd say maybe once a year for that one at most. I'd like the '82-'86 softball unis to be worn every so often too. |

If I remember correctly, Eaglo Jeff, the White Sox they wore in the late '80s when Jeff Torborg called the shots as manager didn't have pinstripes. It had White Sox scripted across the chest on the home uniforms, while Chicago was scripted on the road unis back then. The cap was black on top with a white "C" and a red bill. Unfortunately, it looked a little bit like what the Atlanta Braves have been sporting for many years now, only their caps have an "A" and a tomahawk on both the home & road uniforms. I remember the Sox did sport a throwback alternate uniform on two different occasions this decade, too. One was a replica of the 1917 World Champions, complete with a white cap with SOX on there and what appeared to be a navy blue bill. The other was a 1906 replica, complete with a pinstripe cap and a navy blue bill... |

When Reinsdorf got the latest uniforms made, he wanted a design that was different from everyone elses (i.e., no blues/reds)* and that the team could keep for a long time (since they changed uniform designs so often). So I think they will still keep them for a while. *Of course, now the Colorado Rockies have ripped off the Sox uniform design. |

Nothing wrong with the uniforms, other than the softball jersey alternates they wear much too often. I would recommend bringing back the sleeveless shirts from a few years ago. |

Darkside wrote: The all black uni has to be tough in those hit july and august day games. Yeouch! Darkside, you do bring up a valid point given how hot the weather can be in July & August, but the black jersey the White Sox wear from time to time is supposed to be cooler than you think. A visit to MLB.com/shop or whitesox.com will show you how cool the black jersey can be even in hot weather. |

I've always thought the SOX should be bigger on the front of the white uniforms. In the throw back version it is bigger. When they wear their black uniforms the SOX is bigger as well. Talk to somebody about this, Ranger. |
