Contreras, Colon, Danks and Floyd have been the culprits to AJ's woes as I see it. I love it when AJ doesn't even throw the ball because baserunners are already at the base as he's catching it. To me, that puts the damn onus on the pitcher to, at least, do his damn part in holding the runner.

The way that other catcher, what's his name, played today, I sorely missed AJ.

Buerhle will do a great job holding the runners. As for Richard, he'll do a great job as well because he'll be knocked out of the first inning. No need for stolen bases when walks, hit batsmen, wild pitches and homeruns will rule the day.

8 total.

You're referring to Ramon Castro, who definitely had an off day as Jose Contreras' personal backstop for the White Sox with 2 errors and 2 runs scored on bad throws trying to throw out runners at second this afternoon in the 10-2 Baltimore beatdown at "The Cell". While he's supposed to be a good defensive catcher, Castro didn't exactly work out too good when Clay Richard was on the mound in his first start since getting traded from the Mets.

Rays are a different team on the road than at home. Sox take 3 of 4 with Richard further cementing his place in the bullpen.

I would be ecstatic with 3 of 4.

Rays steal a dozen bases.

3-4 per game sounds about right except aganist mark b. say 1 maybe 2 then

Carl Crawford alone might get 8 or 10 in this series.

They set up the starting rotation at the beginning of the second half, specifically to get three lefties agianst the Rays in the hope it will be more difficult to steal bases.

Right. But since the Sox have 3 lefties it's not that tough to get 3 against them in a 4-game series. I think the Sox would have set up this rotation this way even if the Rays weren't coming so quick after the break.

I still see Crawford stealing of everybody except Buehrle.

This Rays team is still good but not as good as what we saw in the playoffs. There starters and bullpen aren't as good. If I'm not mistaken, we took 3 out of 4 from them in April down in Tampa.

This has also set up so that Floyd won't miss the Tigers in the next series. He's dominated the Tigers.

I don't like it one bit. CQ's heel is one bad pop away from being done for the season, and while Scott Podsednik's not much of a center fielder either, he's also an injury risk. White Sox management should forget about getting Roy Halladay and focus instead on shoring up an outfield that's not getting younger and is error prone.

This makes no sense. I absolutley thought it would be Wise that would be sent down. Anderson is a righty to counter Pods being a lefty. You could spot start him vs the real tough righties.

I think this has to do with options. Wise doesn't have any I'm pretty sure. Anderson can still be in the Sox control. This won't last long. Wise will evenually be cut and Anderson will be the guy off the bench. He's too good of a late defensive replacement for that not to happen.

I'll be very interested to see what the lineup looks like for tonight's game 1 of 4 with the soon-to-be ex American League Champions from Tampa Bay. You'd think with former #1 overall pick, lefty David Price starting for the Drew Carey-looking Joe Maddon, second base would be covered by Jayson Nix instead of Chris Getz, even though Getz is actually one of the Southsiders' hottest hitters right now & I feel can hit lefties as well as righties. Unfortunately, this David Price is also someone the Sox have NEVER seen before, and that's not a good sign.

The lineup is in for tonight's opener vs. Tampa Bay, and this is the lineup Ozzie has submitted for the first of 4 and the 9 David Price will be dealing with come 7:11p:
CF 22 Scott Podsednik
SS 10 Alexei Ramirez
RF 23 Jermaine Dye
1B 14 Paul Konerko
C 12 Anthony John Pierzynski
LF 20 Carlos Quentin
3B 15 Gordon Beckham
2B 5 Jayson Nix
DH 7 Joshua Fields (?)

Why the hell does Fields have a spot on this team? All he's good for is padding the opposing pitchers strikeout numbers. Kenny needs to clean up the bottom of this roster.

He is such a POS.

Country, his name is JOSHUA Fields and I want his ass out of here! He's 0 for 3 with...(you guessed it!) 2 K's as the designated hitter. Jayson Nix is also 0 for 3 starting ahead of Chris Getz at second base...If my math is right, that's 0 for 6 from the bottom of the Sox batting order tonight. The sooner I see Getz, the better! He's one of the hottest hitters on this team, and yet Ozzie starts Nix vs. David Price? Besides, Getz can hit lefties better than righties...

Linebrink.

4 runs will not win this game with him in there.

Post subject:  Re: rays/soxs

. . . . . and here we go again leaving runners in fuckin' scoring position like there's no tomorrow against a team with a winning record.

These things tend to hurt the Sox; I wouldn't be surprised if TB pulls this game out. It's got 5 - 4 written all over it.

Prove me wrong, bullpen!

The White Sox bullpen has struggled since they came back from the All-Star break. Even Bobby Jenks' save Saturday afternoon vs. Baltimore didn't come easy, and nearly blew it.

Evan Longoria just struck out, and the Rays leave a pair as the White Sox lead 4-3 going to the bottom 8th.
