New stadium opens next season, and, yes, better pitching matchups, but Sox will find a way to lose at least 2 of these.

A quick update on Wednesday's pitching matchup...Bartolo Colon, not Jose Contreras, gets the start in the finale of the 3-game series in Minnesota, says Ozzie. While I'm at it, Ozzie, stop the platoon at second base with Jayson Nix & Chris Getz! :x Have you seen Jayson's batting average lately? Nix's BA is down to only .220, while Getz is now hitting .263 despite an 0-for-4 night in the 5-1 White Sox win in Detroit...The Twins are supposed to start Glen Perkins this eve and Francisco Liriano Wednesday night, both lefties...Getz deserves to play even vs. tough lefties, and the platoon needs to stop right now!

I think the Sox surprise a lot of people (myself included) and take 2 of 3.

Tough week for the south side, going to that damn dome and then the Yankees come to town.

Very tough. If only the Sox could play the Nats and the Reds :P

Basically they did. They are just called the Royals and the indians in the AL, and the Sox face them a lot as BOTH are in their division. The Sox had the easier part of their schedule in the first half, now that they are facing tougher teams, it is becoming clear that they are more pretenders than contenders, in 2009.

I have no issue with the platoon. Getz is getting the majority of the starts, he's hitting right now, but Nix does provide very good defense which I don't mind having in Minnesota.

Just like the Cubs did when they were in Philly.

The Cubs lost game 1 of that series and won game 3. Game 2 went 13 innings and could have easily been won by the Cubs. It's not like they got steamrolled at all. They played the defending Champions pretty well in that series. Oh, and the correct way to address the team from the NORTH side of town, is the FIRST PLACE CHICAGO CUBS!!!!!

This is the Championship Mountain way of saying they lost 2 out of 3

....And scored a grand total of 2 runs in the first 22 innings of that series. You're right Steve. That juggarnaut Cub offense game the Phils all they could handle!

Even though Carlos Quentin has been back on the active roster for about a week now, he still looks very tentative at the plate since his return from an injured left heel. While Ozzie is doing the right thing in bringing in Dewayne Wise for late inning defense in center field and moving Scott Podsednik to Quentin's position of left field, I think Carlos should be sitting given that defense is a premium on that awful piece of crap the Twins continue to play their home games on.

You can say similar things about Game 2 and 3 of the series at Detroit. The Sox blew Game 3 of that series, and had a 2 run lead going into the later innings of Game 2. Prior to that, they took 3 of 4 against the Rays.

Bottom line, is the Sox have played 2 solid teams in the AL, certainly not the best of teams, and have played .500 ball so far. We'll know much more in the upcoming series.

How? I hate that building, but I've not once compared it to a black cat or whatever. The Sox just play bad baseball up there, plain and simple.

It used to be like that in Oakland and Seattle, but they've cracked those nuts over the past couple seasons. They need to do the same in Minneapolis.

Matt Thornton is not with the team because his wife went into labor. With no lefty in the pen things could get REAL ugly in the later innings. Hopefully Danks can go deep into this game. Something he hasn't been able to do very often early in his career.

Hey asswipe, I have never once compared it to anything or used it as an excuse for the Sox. I agree with Bernsie too, just play the damn game. My hate for the dome is just in general, baseball should not be played in a dome. I hated that awful place in Seattle too, and I hated all those awful astro turf stadiums from the 80s...St. Louis, Philly, Pitts. Brutal.

What happened? Which players were fighting in the Sox dugout? I tuned in late to hear Stone and Hawk talking about it but I missed the names. I assume they showed it on TV. Who were the two guys?
