Just what the Sox need, another older injury plagued OFer. Best of luck to BA, I still think he deserved more of a shot to play everyday. |

Here's part of the problem. The Red Sox have a guy in Jacoby Ellsbury who is already there and even though we couldn't question Brian Anderson's defense here in Chicago, B.A. simply couldn't hit Major League pitching in the times he did play. |

I thought "showcasing" him was a big reason BA was sent down instead of Wise. Now Wise will be cut to make room for Kotsay. |

This doesn't effect Pods. Kotsay is 33. He's been hurt the last few years. His numbers have fallen the last few years. He bats lefty like Pods. He's just a better back up than Wise. That's it. |

Kotsay was designated for assignment by Boston on Friday. The 33 year-old hit .257/.291/.324 in 79 plate appearances for the Red Sox; he'd re-signed in January for $1.5MM plus incentives. He was hobbled by calf and back injuries. |

What the hell is this? OK. BA does not hit well enough to be an everyday player. I think he has proven that to be true. He has also proven to be worthy of a roster spot as a 4-5th outfielder because he is an excellent defensive replacement. He makes nothing and is under control for several more years. So what if he was disgruntled? So now, when the cut payroll next year, we will see them waste 1 million on some backup when they could have had BA doing the same job for half the cost. AND FOR WHAT? I could see doing it even for some low level prospect, but Mark freaking Kotsay? Expensive, average to below average in CF, average to below average hitter. KW has had a bad year. |

Unless there's another trade in the works, I don't think this trade makes a great deal of sense. The White Sox defense was already suspect, even before today's Brian Anderson deal. B.A. has been assigned to Triple "AAA" Pawtucket, the Red Sox top farm team, by the way... |

The mystique of the WS has done Kenny well, but it's four years later and the team is average at best. Kenny should never, ever mention it again that the fans not showing up are the reason he can't field a good team. Why should fans go to see a .500 team and then get gouged for premium tickets? The Sox need a revamping from top to bottom and that includes the front office. |

To all the Brian Andreson lovers ( Frank & Dolphin) He was only and may I repeat only traded for Mark Kotsay that is what baseball thought BA was worth. Mark Fuckin Kotsay |

He's had enough time. Plus he was starting to bitch. Asked to be traded. You had to get rid of him. Just get whatever you can. |

Cowley just explained what the Sox are thinking. Kotsay can back up 1st and be a back up outfielder. So yeah, Fields is gone. So this makes sense. |
