Take this for what its worth coming from a Cub fan, but isnt it odd that Kenny Williams has cried poor when it comes to taking on any salary in a trade when the owner is putting up 140 mildo plus to buy an out of town hockey team? They went so far as to blame the Dodger Series as an eye opener, basically calling out the Sox fans for lack of support. Forgive me if this has been brought before, but being put through the whole ownership thing, and payroll freeze on the North Side, I understand. Just wondering why I havent heard this brought up at all.

it's not like he is putting up 140 himself, it's probably a large group of investors... he just happens to be the head of the group.

hey gary the newb, you're spelling cougar wrong...unless you are:

An older woman around age 50-80 who looks to pick up younger boys, they prefer teenagers over all (around 14-17). But if they can, they will look for boys with the name Tim.

from the urban dictionary

And JR has never combined revenues for his ventures (Bulls/Sox/Real Estate). This is a non-story, IMO.

It seems like a broken record, but the U.S. economy is still very much in a recession. Joe Fan simply doesn't have the $$$$ to buy tickets to see a White Sox team that's been maddeningly inconsistent, not to mention go out to a ballgame period. It's not cheap to go out to a ballgame, and I can tell you that when my father and I took in a Sox/Indians' afternoon game earlier this month at U.S. Cellular Field, it costs the two of us alone $66 for seats in the Lower Reserved, Section 103. It would have cost us more if my father, a Sox fan for decades, wasn't 65 and older. If you've watched a Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field alone this season, you may have noticed that the team lost sponsorships from Pontiac, which used to sponsor the Fundamentals deck above the left field stands, and that there's now a Miller Lite sign that has replaced the Bank of America sign above both right field and the Miller Lite Bullpen Sports Bar. Those sponsorship losses mean lost revenue, and Uncle Jerry (Reinsdorf) is already worried about additional sponsorship losses for 2010. Let's face reality. In addition to this recession, the White Sox don't have the vast resources of the Yankees & Red Sox when it comes to sponsors, ad revenue, TV/radio, etc.

I just checked out tickets for the Aug 7th game. $47 per ticket to sit in the bleachers? For a game that will be 1/2 empty? Yes, that is more than Wrigley and even Sox fans would agree (I think) there is no reason for this pricing.

BigFan, if you want to see this weekend's series vs. the Yankees, the White Sox list it as a "Prime" meaning that it costs the most to see Mark Teixeira, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and a Yankee team that's smokin' hot since coming back from the All-Star Break. My father was absolutely confused in the team's pricing scale when he & I took in a Sox/Indians' game earlier this month.
