callining the pirates could of gotten you a cf, ss. and 2nd basemen that make a difference. i dont trust our farm system and some prime examples should be anderson and fields both whom were supposed to be differnce makers as of late. |

The White Sox could not have gotten Sanchez, that's for sure. The pitching prospect the Giants gave up is a top tier one... who is actually ranked higher than any of the pieces the Phillies gave up for Cliff Lee. No chance the Sox were going to beat that. |

and the Braves gave up a great prospect for Mc Louth Still, if I am a GM, I would pay some intern to remind me every week to remember to call the Pirates, as they are ALWAYS looking to sell. |

It ensures that PLENTY of tickets will be available in Pittsburg again next season, for Cub fans that want to take a trip there for a series. |

Joe Borchard? Scott Ruffcorn? Danny Wright? Lorenzo Barcelo? These are all former White Sox farmhands who were highly rated in their farm system who all bellyflopped once they arrived at U.S. Cellular Field. While baseball drafts are far from an exact science, the White Sox inability to properly draft cost a certain guy named Duane Shaffer his job about 2 years ago. Ever since the Pirates and a certain dickhead named Barry Bonds lost to the Braves in the 1992 National League Championship Series, they've become quite a team for drafting young players only to trade them away and that franchise hasn't had a winner ever since. |

Thats due to the fact that Pittsburg (a small market team) could not then, nor can they now, keep their high priced talent. They have learned over the years, to trade their players who are approaching salary arbitration or especially free agency, to keep their payroll down. They hope that a fair number of the players they get in return pan out. It's apples and oranges when compared to the Sox, who can keep their players when they want to. Lastly, when you are a team like the Pirates who gets to draft right near, if not right at the top of the draft, you should hit on some of the guys you draft. |

Here's another idea for that idiot "Commissioner" of Major League Baseball, Allan H. Selig, downsize and get rid of the Pittsburgh Pirates then! If the Pirates don't want to put a competitive team on the field, get rid of them! I don't give a rat's ass what the MLB Players Association thinks of jobs that'll be lost if it ever came to fruition, but Selig actually considered downsizing or "contracting" a couple teams a few years ago... |
