D.J. Carrasco made an emergency start as the team's fifth starter in the wake of the Jake Peavy trade on July 31, and he probably has the stamina to work into the fifth inning. However, the White Sox like him more as a versatile reliever than as a starter, and Carlos Torres will get recalled from Triple-A Charlotte to make Saturday's start. No word yet on what roster move with coincide with the callup of Torres. |

I think this Torres kid deserves a second look; I like the move. Too bad, they have nobody to relieve Contreras of his God-awful pitching as of late. |

Being a Cub fan, I have no comment to make on this situation because it doesn't concern my interests, unlike someone else on the board. Three guesses as to who? |

Williams has actually been getting the job done in the opportunites that he has had, and he's a left hander. |

He was sent down Saturday to bring up Nunez. |

I didn't even know there was a Nunez on the Sox roster currently. Lillebridge was back up for for a spell? |

I just looked at some AAA numbers and Torres is having a really good year (at least by is measurables; i.e; Stats). Egbert, who it seems they thought could be something last year and in the spring, is mediocre, and Marquez has been god-awful. Just wondering, Sox fans, where is the next 5th starter going to come from, assuming you have a 1-4 of: Buehrle Peavy Danks Floyd (if i'm not mistaken, these guys are all locked up through 2011) |

I have to think Jhonny Nunez, and I think that's how his name is spelled, will get the bus ticket back to Charlotte to make room for Carlos Torres if this story is accurate. Don Cooper was tight-lipped on the White Sox Radio Network pregame with the Ranger and Ozzie didn't even mention it in the postgame news conference. Meanwhile, I keep hearing that Alexei Ramirez should be back tomorrow vs. Cleveland, but if he's not, paging Brent Lillibridge... |

Battle of young pitchers Saturday as the recently acquired Justin Masterson (via Boston) makes his first start for the Tribe. |

I forgot about him...He must have came to the Indians in the Victor Martinez trade with the Red Sox. Meanwhile, I'd think that if Carlos Torres is the choice to start tomorrow night at "The Cell", the White Sox will make a roster move following tonight's game, win or lose. I'll be there IN PERSON tomorrow night to see a guy who resembles a current White Sox reliever in Octavio Dotel in his delivery and a guy who pitches out of the stretch instead of the wind-up. |
