Wouldn't be half as popular as he is if he weren't white. |

Unfortunately, he grounded out to third in his only at-bat as a pinch hitter, but you read it here, folks. Chris Getz, not Jayson Nix, will be the full-time second baseman for the Chicago White Sox come 2010. I'm not the only one who likes #17. Ozzie seems to like him as well, but enough is enough with the platoon! |

Before he went on the DL with the lower oblique, Getz was actually one of the hottest hitters on this White Sox team, hitting .333 in the last 33 games, not to mention a .294 BA vs. lefties...While Gordon Beckham has gotten all the pub, let's not forget about Getz's contributions. |

I don't think giving credit to a player playing well has anything to do with him being white. It has to do with his batting average since the all star break. |

When he managed to hit .300 after the All Star break and steal a couple bags. He is 18-20 in steals. Thats more than just a "couple bags", and stealing that many bags at a 90% clip deserves praise- balck, white, latino, or other. |

I was trying to stir the pot and all I got was SHARK following up every one of my posts with a clarification. Thanks, internet. Not that I don't believe the original statement, I just don't think he's half as good as people make him out to be based on outlier performance over a short stretch of time. |

He's grindy. Does that mean good? I'm not so sure, he has utility infielder written all over him. |

Everybody bitches the team is one-dimensional so they bring in a guy that does a lot of things well but nothing great and people bitch about that too. This site is getting tiresome. |

Apologist wrote: He's grindy. Does that mean good? I'm not so sure, he has utility infielder written all over him. Apologist, grindy is good and that's what Chris Getz is in my opinion. I think Ozzie really likes what Getz brings to the ballpark, and feels Jayson Nix is more of a Mark DeRosa-type who won't be limited to second base come next season. Getz doesn't provide the home run pop that Nix has brought in limited at-bats, even before Chris went on the DL with the lower oblique last month. Getz hits the ball very, very hard and gives it 100% on the bases, and I believe his defense will only improve once he becomes the full-time second baseman next year. As for Nix, I think you'll see him give Getz a breather, but I predict you'll see #5 playing a number of other positions such as third base and occasionally left & right field like DeRosa played with the Cubs and I think has done since leaving the North side. |

Getz had 1443 AB's in the minors and had a .362 OBP. He has 319 AB's in the pro's and has a .326 OBP. I'd like a larger sample size in the pro's before I say he can't get on base. |

By the way, folks, your full time second baseman for the 2010 White Sox singled & scored the first and what appeared to be the only run of the game yesterday at Wrigley Field. Oh by the way, #17 Chris Getz, Southfield, MI. Get used to it! |
