Here is how they are looking as of today. The guys without salaries for 2010 (Getz, Lillibridge, Beckham, Flowers, Nix, Hudson, etc) are under Sox control and would be brought back around $400,000.

There are 6 Arbitration eligible players. (Jenks, Quentin, Danks, Carrasco, Pena, Fields)

I also left in Pods, Dotel, Wise and Kotsay just to remind that they are free agents.

Arb or trade for Bobby?...how much will Quentin and Danks get in arb?..try to re-sign pods?...

My GOD, look at that Rios contract !! It looks even worse when stacked against the rest of the team.

And Wise is gone, isn't he?

Yes, he opted for free agency instead of a demotion off the major league roster.

Where did you get the number for Rios? Not a big difference but I found:

10:$9.7M, 11:$12M, 12:$12M, 13:$12.5M, 14:$12.5M

If the economy improves or if his play improves the Rios contract won't look that bad.

If neither of those things improve it will look bad but luckily in MLB you can get away with having a bad contract.

good question. (I am assuming its a kicker from the contract. all are off a half mill and he had a trade kicker in his contract)...no idea if it works the same since he was a waiver transaction...looking into it...compiled from multiple sources, but the same site also says:

Alex Rios of
7 years/$69.835M (2008-14), plus 2015 club option

* 7 years/$69.835M (2008-14), plus 2015 club option
o signed extension with Toronto 4/4/08, re-working 2008 deal signed 2/5/08 ($3.5M signing bonus remains, 2008 salary reduced from $1.335M to $0.735M)

o 08:$0.735M, 09:$5.9M, 10:$9.7M, 11:$12M, 12:$12M, 13:$12.5M, 14:$12.5M, 15:$13.5M club option ($1Mbuyout)

o may block trades to 6 clubs beginning in 2009

o if traded between beginning of 2011 season and Spring Training 2014, future salaries increase by $0.5M each

o if traded during 2014 season, 2015 option increases to $14M ($2M buyout)

o claimed by Chicago White Sox off waivers from Toronto 8/10/09

* 1 year/$4.835M (2008)
o re-signed 2/5/08 (avoided arbitration, $5.65M-$4.535M)
o $3.5M signing bonus, 08:$1.335M
o award bonus: $15,000 for All Star team
* 1 year/$2.535M (2007)

Scott Linebrink at a whopping $5 mil in 2010 and THEN $5.5 mil in 2011. Damn, that's some expensive suck...
