He wanted to come back, the team wanted to bring him back but he just got greedy. Even after the Royals balked at giving him a multi year deal he still stuck to the demand. Now he will have to find a new home with a fan base who will not remember him as Scotty Pods, World Series Hero. He will probably make the same money the Sox were offering with fans breathing down his neck at the first sign of a slump.

I think he recieved bad counsel on this one.

Agreed. He proved he can still hit last year, but that his fielding and baserunning (not base stealing) was among the worst in the league. He should have remembered that he was on the scrap heap last May and if it weren't for an injury he never would have been brought back to the Sox. He should have been happy with a 1 year deal worth 7 figures.

I think Scott Podsednik asked for a three-year deal and wanted quite a bit more money than what the White Sox offered. Didn't Scott & his agent realize that we've been in a recession for quite sometime?

No doubt, he did not play this out very well. I think he overestimated his value. Too bad for him, as he did a pretty nice job last year and may not even get what the Sox had offered elsewhere. But I will not agree with those who see Pierre as an upgrade. In a new league...against a lot of unfamiliar pitching, I think he will struggle and many will bemoan the loss of Pods.

Let's not forget that Scott Podsednik was COMPLETELY out of Bud Selig's Major League Baseball until a month had passed this past season and the White Sox were getting little production from the leadoff spot. This despite the fact Chris Getz, now with the Royals, did get his batting average above .300 when he was in the leadoff spot for the White Sox after the Dewayne Wise experiment didn't go well by any means.

Agreed. I think the White Sox were only interested in a 1 year deal while he was looking for at least 2, and at much more money than the Sox were willing to pay.

It will be interesting to see if he's able to get a multi-year deal somewhere.

Getting a contract of any kind from another team, seemed like an unlikely thing before the Sox gave him the chance to come back with them. At least he played himself into a position where there is interest in his services again. But I too doubt when he signs, that it will be for more than a year.
