Quote:
4. White Sox
This team confuses me at times, and Ozzie Guillen is right when he says, "We have to be healthy, we can't have happen to us what happened to Cleveland last year." They are not deep, so Carlos Quentin and Gordon Beckham have to be healthy.

But they can pitch. Mark Buehrle, Jake Peavy, John Danks and Gavin Floyd comprise a solid foursome; they're hoping on Freddy Garcia, but he's been 84-88 mph all spring, so Daniel Hudson could become important. If Bobby Jenks' ankle holds up, they have a chance for a power bullpen. Matt Thornton could close, J.J. Putz's stuff has come back, Scott Linebrink, Sergio Santos and Tony Pena give Guillen a lot of flexibility, and they fall into the very capable and winning hands of A.J. Pierzynski.

Scoring runs, however, could be an issue and put a lot of pressure on Beckham and Quentin. Alex Rios' spring moments have been in and out, Andruw Jones is carving a comeback, Juan Pierre brings speed and hustle, and they think Mark Teahan will produce at 28 off a year in which he hit 12 homers and had a 37-123 walk-strikeout ratio

I refuse to believe Peter Gammons removed himself from inside Terry Francona's ass long enough to write this article.

Believe it Keyser.
He was working from inside Torre's ass when he wrote this one.

Regardless, the man still know more baseball than most.

Sure Linebrink gives you flexibility.
Ozzie can use him when he's 5, 6, or 7 runs down.

I think the Sox 30 teams in 30 days is on the MLB network tomorrow night. Always a good watch-probably a little more Gammons insight on that too.

And given the Sox starting rotation, that should not happen more than a mere handful of times this year.

This is great stuff. I hope it's Plesac and John Hart.

I haven't seen that episode yet. John Hart, the Special Assistant to the General Manager with the Texas Rangers, appears with ex-Cubs' Dan Plesac & Mitch Williams as well as Harold Reynolds in studio with hosts Matt Vasgersian and/or Greg Vasinger, based on the other teams MLB Network has profiled in its "30 Teams in 30 Days" series. It's supposed to air at 7p tomorrow.

Adding the MLB, NFL, NHL, and other sports channels to my cable back was the best choice I have made in years.

I remember doing that with Comcast 3 years ago. When I hooked up my cable again back in December, to my surprise, I found that I no longer needed to pay extra for the MLB, NFL, and NHL networks. They are part of the 2nd tier digital package-along with the Big 11 Network and ESPN U.

MLB Network isn't even an odd-on option on U-Verse.

But they're "working on it ...." for the second straight year.

MLB Network, despite Gammons joining them this season, is pretty awesome stuff. They show classic games all the time and their MLB tonight show is the best daily run-down of all things MLB related.

MLB Network is a really good channel, and Peter Gammons still knows his stuff nationally when it comes to the diamond. I can guarantee you that Gammons will be a regular this spring & summer on "The Dan Patrick Show", now that Peter has left ESPN.

Amen, brother. About the only thing I actually enjoy about my Comcast service.
