http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/santos-makes-the-pen I didn't realize, he only has 28 innings as a pitcher and was a shortstop prospect as recently as last spring. Great story if this guy can somehow stick. |

He was the first round pick for the D'Bags in '03 (I think). They thought he was their SS for the next 10 years. I really hope Ozzie takes it slow with him but he has shown he likes to throw guys in the fire as soon as possible. It will be fun following his progress this season. |

Joe Nathan was also a converted SS. I'm pretty sure he was released by the Giants but a minor league instructor convinced the team to bring him back as a pitcher. Unlike Santos he was able to work his way up through the minors. The fact that Santos has no options left makes this a much more intriguing story. |
