Look, Joe West called the balk because he balked. Threw out Oz cause he came out swearing at him.
HAWK is FREAKING out... calling West a disgrace. Shit man you don't DO that.

Well it IS a balk because the Umpire called it a balk.
If he called it a balk once, then called the same move a balk a second time. If you got pinched on it once, don't do the exact same thing again.
Second, even if west WAS wrong, Hawks reaction to this is what is disgraceful. You don't call for an umpire suspension, you don't call an umpire biased, you don't call an umpire a disgrace.
How would you react to a team next time if their mouthpiece called you a disgrace repeatedly?
Maybe the reason umps don't like the Sox (which probably isn't true in the first damn place) is because you're constantly bitching about them like a goddamn pony leaguer.

edit: Not talking about the balk call, but if that's all Buerhle did was slam hius glove to the mound and West ejected him, then West considers himself WAY too relevant. Which would be nothing new. He probably has a new album to promote.

Oz thrown out on the first balk. With a 1-2 count, one on two out, he comes out and starts yelling like a crazy person. So whatever. No harm, that batter groiunded out on the next pitch. Fine.
I saw Burls throw the glove, not much of a throw per se, but I couldn't see his mouth to see if he had some words too. West tossed him a few seconds after the glove toss.
To be fair, West told Oz he was going to throw him out if he argued. You could see what he was saying. Oz argued anyway. Does he deserve it at that point? You decide.

There were two seperate balks called today? At what point does a player/manager/coach have the right to ask West what the hell the problem is? It's not balls/strikes - they should be able to discuss it without beingtold "If you do, you're gone".




Hawk should still shut the hell up.

managers can't say anything and its fucking crazy. Joe West also has been known to have a quick trigger. They shouldn't be able rant and rave for 90 seconds out there, but they need to be able to voice a quick opinion before they get the heave ho.

Like I said, maybe Buerhle balked...I dunno I haven't seen it yet. But Joe West is still an asshole.

While I hate Hawk, West is a joke. After Oz got thrown out, you knew Mark would come back with the move eventually. West didn't call the balk the first 2 moves, but on the 3rd he called it. I think he was like, "fuck you Mark, your trying to mess with me, so i'll balk again". Mark really didn't do much to get tossed, as he flipped his glove, but West is bad. I agree with Hawk, he should be suspended.

I was on break. We have the game on in my office. Guy next to me tells me Buehrle got tossed for a balk. My immediate reaction: "Hawk must be goin nuts"

You could tell by the reaction of the baserunners that it wasn't a balk. Neither were frozen and both were back to first in plenty of time. It's the same move he's been using for years. That fat piece of shit has a bug up his ass.

Buehrle didn't throw his glove until the 2nd balk call.

And for the record, Joe West is and always has been a tool. It seems like there is always an issue with him when he works a White Sox series.

Really is no surprise, sadly, that you almost KNOW which ump it was that would be involved with a couple of balk calls - a couple of ejections. There is no reason that we should know any ump/ref's names...but, there are always at least 2-3 in each sport that MAKE themselves part of the game. Their respective unions should realize this, and do something about it. NO ONE is paying to see the officiating crew make themselves the center of attention, yet jackasses like West always make sure they mix it up.

Hawk's energy is always too high in the wrong situations. I cannot imagine how much I would hate that guy if he were ANYONE else's announcer. His hysterics at the (relatively) moist meaningless things are just crazy, it's too bad he's so firmly planted in his seat - be nice if someone would talk to him.

Tony Pena scares me, but somehow has been doing ok.
