Mariners aren't reporting anything official at this point, but it looks like Cliff Lee might be heading to the Central Division, and possibly the Twins. However, what are the chances the White Sox make a move for Lee? |

The pitching has been coming around as of late. They need a bat moreso than another starter. |

While Cliff Lee obviously makes every rotation better, the Sox rotation has been pretty lights out lately. I'd rather see them invest their limited funds/trading chips for in/for a power left hand bat ..... paging Adam Dunn. |

Honestly, I see no reason why Lee won't be on the Twins' roster before too long. I also don't see this Sox hot-streak continuing much longer, as nice as it is. |

Money. More so than people know about I think. So, they could take on just about all of that contract without much problem. |

What is this, lee's 3rd team in two years, soon to be fourth? That's kind of messed up given the talant that guy has... |

I believe they have a great catching prospect who is stuck behind Mauer. The Mariners have a great prospect as well who has stunk it up this year. The first thing I would ask for if I was the Mariners is Denard Span. I know that's probably a non starter as far as the Twins go but fuck it, you've got Cliff Lee. There will be others looking for that trade. If I were the Mariners I'd probably also be looking to get out of that Chone Figgens contract. |

The Phillies trade was an Indians fire sale knowing they weren't going to re-sign him. The Seattle thing is free agency. If he's on the block, it's because they now realize that the can smartly spend the money that they gave him on multiple parts because Seattle is basically a mid-market team. This is far different from a Milton Bradley type of 4 teams in 2 years kind of situation, so, yes...wierd indeed. |

With the way free agency and the Player's union is nowadays, very rarely do you see a talented player stay with the same team for very long. |

The year before he won the Cy he was hurt. That's probably why Philly decided to go with Halladay (good move) and he's been hurt with Seattle. |

I think the Twins will trade for a pitcher but I don't think it will be Cliff Lee. They moved up a tier in payroll thanks to the new ballpark but I don't think they've moved up high enough to start trading away the young players it will take to acquire Cliff Lee. I think Ted Lilly, Ben Sheets, or Jake Westbrook (they've traded with the Indians in the past) will be more likely targets. |

A source tells Jeff Fletcher of AOL Fanhouse that the Twins have offered prospect outfielder Aaron Hicks and prospect catcher Wilson Ramos to the Mariners for left-hander Cliff Lee. I find this report hard to believe for a couple reasons: 1) I find it hard to believe the Twins would offer two A prospects for a rental player. 2) I find it hard to believe the Mariners didn't jump at this offer. The Twins may be panicking from a 13-18 record since June 1 but this is a TON to offer for a team that will still have holes in the bullpen and third base. |
