The O's are bad, but they are still an MLB team. 4 game sweeps are tough. 3 of 4 though must be had.

You were right, Frank. Anything less than six wins on this trip will be a real disappointment.

* big voice guy *

tonight in baltimore... THE BUCK STOPS HERE!!@

i have this odd feeling in my stomach that today could be a letdown game where they lose 9-7 or something, with the bullpen imploding after a 4-5 ER performance from danks via the longball (luke scott is dialed in hmmmm)

then maybe someone line matusz pulls a decent game out of his ass and surprises edwin jackson... but i could be horribly wrong. early in the season you heard how matusz was SO major league ready, and welp, if he wants to be a part of the orioles pitching staff, i can dutifully report that he is indeed major league ready.

Orioles have a lot of promising young players, but it seems that every single one of them has regressed in their development.

i think someone on the b&b forum suggested that teh sox might be able to trade carlos quentin for nick markakis before the trade deadline.

my laptop keyboard has beer stains from reading that one, suffice to say =D

adam "don't call me pacman" jones is a nice player, but he doesn't really have offensive cornerstone written all over him. he's a nice complimentary player... i think they had really high hopes for wieters being a mauer-type-catcher but this year he's just been... yeeeee. and um beyond that when you have ty wigginton being a cornerstone of your offense, despite ty wigginton being a somewhat underrated player, you know.... you know.... * holds beer up* you know?

Pena really bailed them out there. Ozzie sure did put the String Bean in a tough situation. How about getting a couple hits here and giving Big Bobby a chance to redeem himself.

It was his first outing and I'm sure he was nervous as hell but Sale looks like he can be the real deal. The ball explodes out of his hand. He reminds me of another tall, lanky left handed Unit........

That game was un-managed. From sticking a guy in a critical spot like that for his big league debut to leaving Pena in too long. The prime objective tonight was not to take a two and a half game lead in the division but to save the bullpen. Maybe that works out. Or maybe they lose the thing by a game and we can look back at how he rested Thornton and Putz. Worse than that is that they could only manage a run off a goof with a 7 ERA.

That was a tough one to lose but at least the Twins also lost so the Sox still have their 1.5 lead. Gavin needs a good outing tomorrow in front of his hometown fans.

I just watched Ozzie saying they didn't have any chances to score. How about the guys they lost on the bases including Kotsay at the plate? This running game is a big negative. This is not an offense that is strong enough to waste two or three outs a game.

Another very winnable game that the Sox failed to capitalize on. Its incredible to believe that they are just a few runs and a few saves away from having about a 5 game lead in this division.

This still applies:

They better have a 3 game win streak in them. A split against the worst team in baseball is not acceptable.

Also, how long were they going to let Showalter stand out there and argue?

Big hit by Beckham. Hopefully Bobby won't need that extra run.

Ozzie needs to go with Putz for the rest of the year.

Nice win, Men. Another great outing from Gavin who evens his record at 8-8. JJ converted the save. Is he the new closer? Some of big hits from Quentin, AJ (hopefully he's not out for a while) and Beckham. Kepp it rolling tomorrow, Mark.

A.J. Pierzynski called his ankle injury a "tweak" Saturday and said he could play Sunday if need be.

That's good to hear.
