But there are still issues with the defense and issues with the bullpen. How is this new line up much different than it was a couple years ago when you basically had Thome in Dunn's spot? Unless the defense and bullpen get fixed, how is this team that much better than the team 2-3 years ago that was not able to get it done? |

Yeah, they're a little shaky on the outfield corners, but they're way above average at the premium positions of short, second, and center. A.J. is adequate behind the plate and Castro is excellent. Third base could be a problem if Morel doesn't hit enough to stay there. |

That lineup will still have some issues if the top of it isn't fixed: Beckham? Will he be all "better"? What exactly do you get from Pierre? - he's as tough to project year in and year out as anybody... |

I absolutely hate giving positions to rookies. I would prefer the talk be that Morel must earn the spot but that they are prepared to go with Vizquel/Teahan should he not. I'm still of the belief that there will be a trade of a starting pitcher. |
