I hope he takes it easy and doesn't throw like it's the 7th game of the World Series. Throw some batting practice fastballs and breakoff a couple curves then wake up tomorrow feeling good and ready to make your next start in 5 days. He doesn't have to be ready on opening day so there is absolutely no reason to air it out in his spring training debut. |

Jake Peavy's 1st spring start happens NOW on MLB Network, DIRECTV 213. They've got the game today vs. the Angels. |

He pitched 2 innings and didn't give up a hit. That's all fine and dandy but it's more important that he wakes up tomorrow with just normal soreness. |

Jake Peavy better be fully healthy from this unusual shoulder injury before he dares take a Major League Baseball mound again. If it means he doesn't join the big club in April or May, so be it! |

I saw some of the highlights and that crazy son of a bitch didn't hold anything back. He blew a 92 MPH high fastball past Vernon Wells like it was the middle of June. I hope I can love watching Jake Peavy pitch 25 times this season because if he does you can put this fuckin division in the bag. |

Sox's Peavy feels OK day after first spring start GLENDALE, Ariz. -- There was good news when Jake Peavy woke up Saturday morning, the day after making his first spring start for the Chicago White Sox: He was sore. But it was just a "general soreness. I think it's to be expected," he said. "There's not anything tender that normally isn't. "I don't think I'm any different than any of the (other starters). You turn it up in a game and you get a little bit more sore (afterward)." Peavy threw two innings and 26 pitches Friday against the Angels, his first action since July 6. He will throw a sideline session Sunday and if all goes as expected, will start again Wednesday. Beautiful. |

Quote: GLENDALE, Ariz. - Jake Peavy is suffering from tendinitis in the rotator cuff of his right shoulder that could put his Thursday start against the Cubs and his April 6 start in question.
Peavy said he has felt gradual discomfort since after his first start March 4 against the Los Angeles Angels, but the Sox say the discomfort isn't related to his detached latissimus dorsi muscle suffered last July. Nevertheless, Peavy said the next 48 hours will determine whether he can pitch Thursday. One Sox source said they already are planning for Plan B, which is Phil Humber taking Peavy's spot in the rotation. Peavy, who threw 5 2/3 innings and 83 pitches on Saturday against Oakland, initially thought he was suffering from general soreness but the discomfort increased and became more acute. Peavy was diagnosed Sunday morning by the Sox's doctors and medical staff and given antibiotics. He admitted that if he can't pitch Thursday, he won't be ready to pitch on April 6 at Kansas City. Peavy thought this ailment might be the ''bump in the road" that the Sox were informed could happen during his recovery. |

Meatballs abound in this section and in the Cubs section- sometimes from your truly- but saying "beautiful" because of a guy dealing with tendinitis (or any sort of injury) is truly classy. Way to go, RFDC. |

This is what all you Sox fans get for making fun of Mark Prior and Kerry Wood. |

This isn't a good sign. He stretches out to 80 pitches and it hurts. I also heard that this was not the "speedbump" he should be expecting. I think it's ridiculous they expected him to go out there and throw that much this soon. Why were they thinking he'd be ready, and effective, by April? That's wrong. Whose call was this? |

The Sox were thinking Peavy would be ready because he said he would. My opinion was there is no way he'd be ready for the start of the season and will pitch for May and June, then return to the DL. This is one of the reasons I don't see the Sox winning more than 85 games. He gone! |
