Friday: Jered Weaver vs Phil Humber Saturday: Tyler Chatwood vs Gavin Floyd Sunday: Dan Haren vs Mark Buehrle Sox should take 2 of 3, as long as the bullpen can close out a game. |

Personally, I would love to see Santos get a shot. |

Thinking about fading the White Sox tonight. Weaver has been dominant. Not bad chalk at -129 now. |

More stellar defense from the White Sox. LAA leading 2-1. Top 4. |

This Guillen has to be the dumbest motherfucker alive. You've got a new pitcher who hasn't recorded an out and he elects to offer him a free one. Of course they can't even execute the fuckin' thing properly. It was a bad idea even if it had worked. He killed a potentially big inning here. And that's something that isn't talked about with all the blame being put on the pen. This team loses more runners on the bases and via outs that Guillen orders on purpose than I've ever seen. If you don't think Beckham is capable of slashing a double there, maybe he should be playing in Charlotte. |

He'll get lucky enough with his bad decisions that it probably isn't going to affect the season too much. The manager's most important job is to lead the team and keep all of the goofs pulling together. Ozzie seems to do that as well as anyone. And I think he handles his pitchers very well. But all the bunting and attempted stealing is a huge negative. It's almost like he's purposely hard-headed about it. Even if they executed perfectly every time, it's still a bad philosophy. Considering they are so brutally bad at that type of game, it's horrible. He's turning a 950 run team into an 900 run team. Will that make a difference? I don't know. But it sure is idiotic. |

WTF??? Dunn I think that's 2 offensive blunders in one inning combine that with the unearned runs we gave em earlier, we looked horrible!! we tried in every way to give em the fuckin game, and we still only lost by a run the Sox should be ashamed of themselves...woulda liked to hear Hawk's reaction to that dumb bunt |

Same team as last year, and the year before that. I want Floyd gone after this season or traded when he finally starts to pitch well in July. I really don't see anything different in this team. They will make a run, albeit too late, and miss the playoffs.....AGAIN. This team starts so slow every goddamn year. Is it the players or has the coach over-stayed his welcome? |

Conger is a good defensive catcher and he can rake......he also can get hurt often and be out for extended lengths of time. Seeing as they have him, Bobby Wilson and Jeff Mathis one would assume someone will be traded at some point. I think Wilson would be the one to go and that the Cubs should jump on a chance to get him. |

Is it the players or has the coach over-stayed his welcome? They will be 500 if/when they lose today. Not exactly a slow start. The Twins look terrible, so it looks like it will be a battle with Detroit. The offense has scored the most runs in the AL and the starting pitching has looked solid for the most part. I do not think the pen will stay like this. Not really the "same team" as last year, and everything is not always Ozzie's fault. |

It's too early to panic, but they have wasted away what could have been a very good start. I am concerned about how consistent the softball offense will be, and obviously the bullpen can't close. It's early, but what could have been a 10-5/9-6 type of start could be a 7-8 start after this game today. |

BD wrote: I am concerned about how consistent the softball offense will be Not this silliness. Homeruns are better than bunts. That's a fucking fact. It's not debatable. The offense will be fine. This is a 950 run team. Guillen is killing probably about a run every other game with his idiotic style. Dunn gets on base about 40% of the time. That's how you move Pierre or Beckham to second. Not buy having them run which results in an out way too much of the time. A "softball offense" is another way of saying a powerhouse offense. It isn't a negative. No bad offensive team has ever run its way to success. Running is dumb. Especially for a team that has Carlos Quentin batting sixth and Alexei Ramirez batting ninth. |

JORR, curious how you can say in one sentence that the offense will be fine and in another say that Ozzie is killing the offense? |

RFDC wrote: JORR, curious how you can say in one sentence that the offense will be fine and in another say that Ozzie is killing the offense? Well, I think this is a 950 run team. He may make it a 900 run team, which is still an elite offense. Now, where those runs fall is what really matters. I think the SABRmetric viewpoint might be that a team can't really control when it is going to score. That "smallball" stuff is an attempt to do just that- force a run across by taking risks and giving up outs. But it may come at the expense of several additional runs. If you look at some of those games the bullpen is being blamed for losing, you'll see that outs were made on purpose and the Sox ran into additional outs. I feel very comfortable saying that if all the batters would have swung away and all the runners would have stayed put on their bases, the Sox overall scoring would be higher than it is. Whether the extra runs would have factored into the W/L record is anyone's guess, but considering the close games they have lost, I'd say it's quite likely. Ironically, I can see the game moving back toward an environment where the running game may make sense. It just isn't there yet. And it certainly isn't for a team with the kind of lineup the Sox have. The fact that Ozzie Guillen feels good about having a "balanced offense" really doesn't mean much to me. I look at what's happening out there. It's hard to argue with the numbers. |

The A's series and Angels series were series the Sox needed to win. They will lose today, then play the Rays, Tigers and Yankees in away games. After these games, I thoroughly expect the Sox to be in the cellar of the AL Central, where they will remain for sometime. Just like last year. Glad one Chicago team is worth watching. |
