Post subject:  Interleague Is Here

I know it started with the Dodgers but this is the beginning of consistent interleague, our old friend and firewall against below .500 seasons. Like last year, the Sox have placed themselves in a position where they absolutely must own the National League in order to compete the rest of the year. I see this as a last stand for guys like Pierre. If he continues to suck ass, it will be time to scream for Viceado. This ends during 4th of July weekend, which really is an appropriate point in an MLB season to re evaluate things.

I think they will follow the pattern of previous years and win at 60-70%. The key is, of course, the Cubs. The Cubs have a lot of rookies who have no knowledge of the crosstown series. Ordinarily the games end up a split. I think the lack of institutional knowledge will lead to the Sox taking 5 from the warm and fuzzies.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are the ONLY .500 or better team the White Sox will be playing vs. their National League counterparts the next 2 weeks or so. You would think the Sox would fatten up again vs. the D-Backs, Cubs, Nationals, Rockies & Northsiders one more time before they return to AL only competition vs. a fading Royals team July 4th. All of this won't be squat unless the Sox take care of biz vs. the AL Central.

Sox are going to get fat against the NL again. I want to see Dunn playing Left Field a little bit.

Ozzie hinted that may actually happen in the NL park...

I know he said he would play him at first once in the D-Backs series, IMO he should only sit out once at the most. Especially considering how well he has played over the past week. You need to get him going even more. The defensive downgrade will be worth it, and he has most likely seen these NL pitchers more that most of the rest of the team.

With Soriano coming off the DL this sounds like the battle for the worst defensive LF crown is coming to town along with the BP Cup.

Much to the delight of SCORE Producer Herb Lawrence, Edwin Jackson faces Dan Hudson in the opener of this three game Interleague series tomorrow night. John Danks & Zach Duke are the mound matchup Saturday night in Phoenix, while Phil Humber & Josh Collmenter(?) wrap up the Interleague series late Sunday afternoon at Chase Field. Other than Collmenter, I think the White Sox know who Hudson & Duke are...
