Jesus h christ..... I find it hilarious that sox fans have already put Viciedo in the Hall of Fame

All I have been hearing the last week or so is how Viciedo is all this & all that and the answer to all Sox problems. The "cartoon / funny" becomes very ironic!

Both sides of town have their own list of guys who were can't miss but yet found a way to fail.

Cubs fans extrapolate A ball statistics to major league success.

No more than other fans do.

Shall I bump the Beckham expectations thread?

Yes because he was in advanced levels before you could even begin to enjoy his A numbers. Oh, and he made it to the majors and has been a starter for three years.

The one who is reaching is the one that is saying that a player who played 14 games in A ball is an example of how White Sox fans "extrapolate A ball statistics to major league success."

I was reacting to his larger point, that Cub fans get all excited about prospects who end up busts.


Gordon Beckham happens to be a perfect example of that.

Beckham's expectations were largely because of what he did in the majors and how fast he got there.

Gordon Beckham is in his second full season in the big leagues and is only 24 years old.

He certainly hasn't been as good as everybody thought he would be, but there is still a lot of time for him to end up being the hitter we expected him to be. He has been nothing short of stellar with the glove this season as well.

I don't think it's a good example at all. Beckham's expectations were largely because of what he did in the majors and how fast he got there. He really never even had a chance to show what he could do in the majors because he was with a few teams for under 20 games and then came up to the big league team. There was very little "Beckham is killing it in the minors" discussion because by the time that would have happened he was on the Sox.

The bottom line is that Cubs fans are stupid.

Concentrating on a minor detail rather than the main point. Thats so unlike you.

Maybe if the Sox fans had jobs and got off the crack they'd be able to judge talent better.

Starlin Castro was playing A ball in Florida and Cubs fans were screaming for him to be called up.

No doubt Cubs fans have been over the top in their love for prospects that they think are can't miss. But to make it seem like the Sox fans do not do the same thing is just dumb. Both sides of town do it.
