Second time in team history that the Expos are playing at the Cell...first time using the DH rule. I wonder if they'll bring Youppi with. Hopefully the Sox can score a bunch of runs to ruin IMU's experience at this shitty ballpark some more. In all seriousness, the Nationals aren't that bad...which is a major improvement for them. Pitching matchups: Edwin Jackson (4-6) vs. Jordan Zimmermann (5-6) today at 7:10 p.m. John Danks (3-8) vs. Tom Gorzelanny (2-5) Saturday at 3:10 p.m. Phil Humber (7-3) vs. Livan Hernandez (4-8) Sunday at 1:10 p.m. Holy christ, Livan Hernandez is still pitching? If you want ERA's, look them up...they weren't on the Daily Herald website this morning. |

Junk ball lefties have a shelf life...I wonder if any Cubs fans would rather still have Gorzelanny than Dung Davis. Hernandez was fucking old when I was in high school...and that was 14 years ago. |

Hernandez is a workhorse, that's the only reason he's still in the game. He will give you 200+ innings every year, and won't get hurt. Not bad for a 5th starter. |

At this stage of his career, Hernandez is the kind of guy bernstein would call "bad at baseball". All of his numbers suggest that may be the truth. But he is still capable of winning ball games. The current conventional wisdom is that he "got lucky" or was the beneficiary of good "run support". I think a more likely explanation is that he just knows how to pitch and is durable enough to give you the innings. |

I'm not expecting a sweep, but 2 of 3 is a must. Anything less is BS. |

HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEYHEYHEY!!!!!@@#$%@%@$!$# listen good, motherfucker, the fighting walgreens =/= the legendary montreal expos. the natinals are ZOMBIE BASEBALL and in fact, shit, i have to find my way over to the ballpark to troll the ~4 natinals fans in attendance... motherfuckers. don't go sullying the good name of youppi (who latched on with the montreal canadiens, thank you very much) with the filth that is the washington natinals. they are NOT my beloved expos. a certain OMAR TEODORO ANTONIO MINAYA Y SANCHEZ saw fit to help run them into the ground, alienate the last bastions of expos fans, and de-value the franchise to the point where it wasn't all that expensive to move to washington. it was a tragedy. olympic stadium was a horrible place to see a baseball game yet the expos fans would pack the damn place full up through the 1994 season. after the strike when teh firesales began expos fans did what cubs fans take a good ~5+ years to do at any given time: THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP. they put their money where their mouth was and let them know that the status quo was unacceptable and that this aggression would not stand. they weren't going to show up to a shit ballpark to watch a team that wasn't trying to win as much as it was trying to put out a decent-at-best product that would make profits for the art dealer, jeffrey loria. the team you're seeing play against the white sox this weekend ARE NOT THE MONTREAL EXPOS. in fact, the montreal farm system was taken down to florida with jeffrey loria (hence how they can draft/develop a good amount of quality kids) and all of the front office either fled with loria or went elsewhere, so in fact, you have a whole new organization in washington, and that's pretty much why they suck right now.... if it was truly the montreal expos just somewhere else with an infusion of actual cash to spend, they'd be fighting for the playoffs every year right now.... instead, the mighty farm system that allows you to stay competitive without investing actual cash (and thus turning a profit) is going on down in miami, and loria got his stadium, so you know he's making some cash and in the end, he can buy new art pieces cuz that's all he's really out for. ahem, forgive the babble, just know that THE WASHINGTON NATINALS WERE NEVER ARE NOT AND NEVER WILL BE THE MONTREAL EXPOS!!!!@ thank you very much. |

oh yeah, best moment from the only time the expos were @ comiskey... it was a friday night in 2002... it was like 1-1 going into the top of the 9th. keith foulke came in to hold down the expos for some late-inning heroics. there was just one problem, a majestic man by the name of VLADIMIR ALVINO GUERRERO stepped up to the plate. when keith foulke attempted to get ahead in the count with the first pitch by throwing a rather vaginal ~85-87mph get-me-over fastball on the inside part of the plate, VLADIMIR ALVINO GUERRERO took one glorious swing and crushed that pitch so hard i think it ended up breaking a window in the robert taylor homes. the expos would go up 2-1 on that one swing, and the portly scott stewart would come in to nail down the save and victory for the expos... sigh. VIVE LES EXPOS!!!@ (the most ironic battlecry in modern baseball) |

I forgot about that 02 series. I was thinking about when the Expos and Marlins played there because of the hurricane back in 04. |

No, I'm not Gary. Just a pseudo-Expos fan. The Cardinals are my actual team. |

I know. You seem semi-coherent most of the time. And there's the lack of Lorne Greene references. |

Tough game for the Sox tonight. I think they will have to win the next Saturday and Sunday to win the series. That is a likely scenario with the Nationals road record. |

Walt Williams Neck wrote: Dunn struck out again swinging no ump problem this time...he has no shame Honestly, it's getting to the point that you have to think about getting him the fuck out of the lineup. He's really terrible. At the very least, please get him out of the 5th spot. Even 7th is a bit ambitious. It's almost the ASB and he's still batting .174. |
