is going to have a great 4 day weekend. He has excellent numbers against all of the scheduled starters and I think yesterday was a big pick me up. Watch him pick up 10 points in his average.

Yeah, and then watch him shit the bed next week at home against the AL Central when it really matters.

The sacrifice fly he had in yesterdays game was a thing of beauty. That's why you can't cut him.

I expected nothing from him in two critical at bats and he came through both times.

He had a good few games. Thing is, he still doesn't really improve your team. He has a bad arm, cannot steal anymore and apparently cannot field very well. He is a singles hitter. It still would be advantageous to replace him with another bat like say Dayan Viciedo's.

Great guy, works hard, but you do not really need the "small fast guy" anymore.

He has two hits at critical moments and suddenly he is a good player?

pierre is still bad..viciedo would still be an upgrade..even koy hill gets a hit now and then..sometimes bums produce in a season when they see 350 plus at bats

All of a sudden, Juan Pierre is creeping up to All-Star consideration.

For everyone 1. Juan P could never throw.B.I don't think he won any gold gloves 3. He always leads the league in caught stealin. He has won the last to games give him a chance. Last year when we all saw Viciedo did anyone think this guy is the next El Cabo?

1. That doesn't make it any better. He still cannot throw.
2. okay... but declining defense+lost speed = no value
3. He would also be at the top of league in stolen bases, he cannot steal anymore

Viciedo doesn't have to be an all-star. He can drive in runs better than JP. He leads AAA in RBIs. I want the White Sox to win the division and if that takes "disrespecting a veteran" than so be it

Who cares? Leadoff only bats once a game. Ramirez, Beckham, Morel, anyone. Baseball teams do not need a small guy (Pierre isn't fast) to bat first in a game. The Sox won in 2008 without one. I would be willing to put up with Ozzie's whining about not having a traditional leadoff guy if it meant brining up Viciedo.

What is more important RBIs or a little guy hitting first? Again Viciedo is leading AAA in RBIs

Wrong again oh Buffalo breath Cody Ransom 74!Leadoff doesn't bat just once a game usually its 4 to 5

Pierre is Pierre......but Baseball has made fools of everybody at any given time and I take particular delight in it making a fool out of a guy like Bernstein who looks at a few stats and has the whole thing figured out.

How were the stats wrong? He was fucking awful prior to the last few games. Like, really hurting the team. The stats accurately portrayed that. Now that he is playing well, his stats are better. Shocking! I know.

And as a Sox fan, this would piss the shit out of me. Now Ozzie thinks he is right, thinks Pierre is awesome and this only buys JP more playing time... despite the inevitable drop back to suckiness. This is not a good thing.

Pierre isn't as bad as the way Guillen uses him. He has him running way too much. Pierre gets on base. To listen to some people, you'd think the guy had an awful career OBP. He really doesn't. And when this season is over, he probably won't either.

It appears to me that the days when you have guys like Carlos Lee or Ellis Burks in an outfield and you're wondering if you need to upgrade are over. In the past there was a place for guys with a game like Pierre's in baseball. I think as people realize what's occurring with the decline of offense, you'll see that type of player begin to be appreciated again.

The value of an out isn't fixed. In a lower scoring environment an out is not as valuable.

As I said in another Sox thread last week there was no way all of these guys with proven track records were going to suck all season. If the trend continues we'll see a big 2nd half out of a lot of guys. Before the season started I thought this was the best team since 2005.
