With all the talk about Dayan Viciedo being rumored as the White Sox "right fielder of the future" and continuing to feast on Triple "A" pitching for Charlotte right now, could the man who currently plays right field be trading in White Sox silver and black for another uniform to possibly make room for Viciedo's anticipated return to U.S. Cellular Field? According to the Boston Globe, Carlos Quentin's days as a Southsider could be numbered.

The Globe reports that the White Sox sent scout/Assistant General Manager Dave Yokum to Atlanta to watch right-handed pitcher Brandon Beachy and other Braves' pitchers. Beachy recently struck out 20 batters in a 12 inning span since coming off the DL, and could be expendable in a possible deal to improve Atlanta's offense. It's unclear at this point if Quentin could be dangled as potential trade bait heading to Turner Field. We'll see what happens.

SHARK, you have been on this "trade Quentin" kick forever. It will only happen if the Sox fall 8-10 games back again before the end of the month. Even if they are barely at .500 but are only 3 games out, Quentin will not go anywhere. So, you might as well just quit with the trade talk until it happens, or the Sox really fall off the table.

This is the first legit trade rumor involving Carlos Quentin that I have read, and it probably won't be the last between now and the MLB Trade Deadline. If the White Sox keep peeing in their pants and losing games such as last night's 5-3 game to the Royals, the rumors might become reality.

If Atlanta wants to give up Beachy for Quentin, I will drive Q to the airport.

More than likely I agree with you here. But even if they are in contention, KW might trade Quentin to make room for Viciedo. I think most of us would like to see them sit Pierre for him, but if Ozzie isn't going to do that and it sure looks like that is the case then I could see KW trading Quentin if he can get something good for him

I always thought of Atlanta as an organization that frowned upon the steroid/HGH crowd.

I know the Braves have another player doing absolutely nothing right now...While they acquired him in an offseason trade with the Marlins, 2B Dan Uggla is doing just as well (NOT!) as Adam Dunn. Like Dunn, the Braves signed Uggla to quite a contract extension shortly after the deal was made with Miami...

Speaking of Atlanta, is there anyone that has more of a "Punch Me Face" in MLB than Larry Jones?

As much as White Sox fans, sports radio hosts and writers everywhere want Pierre out of here, that's not about to happen as long as Ozzie is still filling out the lineup card. Trading a guy like Quentin, possibly releasing Omar Vizquel, etc. might be other ways for the White Sox to bring up Viciedo without giving up their current leadoff guy.

When I think of steriods, I always think of non power pitchers. Put Moyer on the list as well. :D

Jonathan "Toughguy Scrunchface" Papelbon. I would like to kick him in the teeth, and then jam the resulting chiclets up his pig-like nostrils, and then set him on fire and then urinate on his lifeless corpse.

What does the green alien mean? Were you asking this in a sarcastic manner?

If not, no, I was not threatening you. I should have said "wink." I am a very peaceful man, who loves life, and all of God's children. Except Jonathan Papelbon.

Mark Bowman at MLB thinks the Braves would be more interested in Juan Pierre than Carlos Quentin.
