http://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/ ... ?gt1=39002When Jayson Werth signed a seven-year, $126 million contract with the Washington Nationals this past offseason, he was expected to bring a lot of excitement to a seemingly dwindling fanbase.
Well the right fielder is doing exactly that, only for far different reasons than most imagined, NBC Washington D.C. reports.
On Sunday, Duffy's Irish Pub, a bar in Washington D.C., will be selling PBR tallboys, Budweiser and Miller High Life for prices that correlate to Werth's batting average that day. This means, for instance, that his current .212 average would equate to a $2.12 cost for the aforementioned beers.
The bar will also award anyone wearing Nationals gear with a free shot of Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey anytime Werth gets a hit on Sunday.
Even despite the right fielder's miserable 2011 season, Duffy's still wants everyone to know it believes in Werth as the team's right fielder of the future.
"For the record we're very happy to have Werth on our team and know he'll turn it around very soon," the bar said via the Facebook invite. "We're just having a little fun."
