To be fair, Minnesota is whipping ass right now with a few no-name players that before this year nobody even heard of. True, Geoff Blum is nothing more than a surfer who got lost on his way to the coast and won a WS game, but with 4 or 5 guys on the DL for the Twins and for them to STILL win 32 out of 41? A little ridiculous if you ask me.

lots of luck too. who have they played in these 40 some games? certainly not the white sox, tigers, yankees, red sox, or anyone else with a good record.

Correct.

So, we've got the Yankees, Twins, and Tigers in our way to get to the playoffs right now (with a small chance that Toronto getting in the mix, but I'll worry about them when they truely catch up). We basically only have to play better than 2 of those 3 teams for the rest of the year, and we are in.

It sounds like a big job, but realistically it is not.

It's not a big job at all. This is what a playoff race is. I think people are on suicide watch right now because the city is so unfamiliar with the concept of a race.

The good thing with this race is that we have games against both of these teams left. Head to head competiton will be the deciding factor and I still like our chances against the Yanks and Twins.

its not a big job at all, as long as they win at least 6 games on this upcoming 9 game roadtrip. if they finish this trip with 4 wins, its gonna be pretty much over.

You're sure that's a good thing? In our most recent meetings against these teams, we are 0-6. Ouch.

I don't think the Yankees are all that good, but the Twins' pitching and solid fundamental play scares me.

There are lots of guys playing above their heads on the Twins right now. I expect there will be some fall off. Also, as I said before, take a look at their away record. That is not what playoff teams are made of.

The way I would approach it if I were Ozzie would be to say "Today starts a new season". Don't think about anything in the past. If the Twins, Yankees and Sox were 0-0 and starting as presently constituted, who would you give the edge to?

You HAVE to go with the Sox if nothing less because of the fact that they couldn't possibly play any worse. If anything, the worse that can happen is they stay on the exact same pace they are on now and miss the playoffs, but ONLY if Minnesota stays hot and the Yankees don't shoot themselves in the ass.

I'm tellin ya... it will only take two losses in a row for the Twins to derail on this path.
