While I could have posted this in the Cubs section, it wouldn't be as much fun. :P

Hahn as the next Cubs GM is a no brainer! Doesn't need to be paid a huge salary, knows the Cub issues maybe better than the Cubs do,he is a Cubs fan, worked with Jerry for years on league issues.

One thing I do know, he would ask Reinsdorf if he didnt want him taking the job and would respect his wishes.

At the same time I think Jerry would say something very close to this 'I would prefer that you didn't, but I am not going to stop you" putting it back in Hahns court.

If this happens, Hahn then needs to leave and make his mark. Jerry would respect him for it.

Is he a no brainer because you're familiar with him being in Chicago, and the local media generally likes him?

I'm not saying he isn't the right guy, but who else is in the mix, and why is Hahn better than some other candidate?

Hahn is a numbers guy. He analyzes a player and places a salary on that player, I would love to see him with Tim Wilkens, who I do think is a really good guy to have in an organization. He seems to be able to identify talent.

Well if he's able to identify talent he better get busy signing it. At last check the Cubs have signed only 1 of their top 15 draft picks this year. 3rd rounder Ezekiel DeVoss. There's still time but it's been over a month since the draft and it's odd to still have that many of their top picks unsigned.

Ned Colletti would love this job. Local guy who attended Triton Junior college.

Don't think it is his job to sign it and they have signed a number of cuban , non drafted players this year

Sure it is. The scouting department has a budget and they draft players according to that budget. They have a really good idea what a guy will sign for prior to drafting him. The scouts do the negotiating with the lower picks but Wilken and Hendry have to ok the signing bonuses.

The Cuban players are part of the international scouting department that is run by Paul Weaver. This was discussed in another thread. Keep up.
