So Kenny is ready to sell and Hendry is preparing to compete for a championship next year. Interesting.

Yep, KW is not afraid to basically threaten his players, unlike Hendry/Quade who clap, wish, hope and pray.

White Sox Could "Turn Over The Entire Roster"
By Mike Axisa [July 25 at 7:12pm CST]
The White Sox were expected to contend for the AL Central crown this year, but right now they're just 49-51 and 4.5 games back of the division lead. That prompted GM Kenny Williams to tell ESPN Chicago that he might "turn over the entire roster" if they don't get back into the race this week.

"On one hand, you can look toward potentially adding (players)," said Williams. "We'd have to add creatively because of the financial situation right now. And on the other hand, maybe this is the most opportune time to turn over the entire roster and get some young, exciting players in here and go that route."

"We don't really know where we stand. To a large degree over the next six days we'll find out."

Williams indicated that he has deals in place if he wants to blow the team up and go into full rebuild mode, but also emphasized that no decision has been made about the club's future yet. The White Sox open a ten-game homestand tonight with three against the Tigers, one of the teams they're chasing in the AL Central.

Edwin Jackson and Matt Thornton have popped up in rumors, and Carlos Quentin could be moved as well. With six starters for five spots and a bullpen full of power arms, Williams will have plenty to dangle in trades for young players. It's tough to see them finding a taker for Adam Dunn, Paul Konerko, or Alex Rios though. All three are signed for at least two more years at big money, and right now Konerko is also the only productive

I call BULLSHIT. I believe Kenny is considering a few deals, but doesn't want to be over-paying for guys he might aquire. Therefore he gives the impression that he may not be looking to add, but divest instead. He's hoping that other GM's might be inclined to take less in a deal and make the deal more quickly, before he changes his mind and gets into the mode of dealing his own guys instead.

What a load of shit Kenny's THREATS are.
Kenny's teams have been to the Playoffs two entire times during his bombastic reign.

HIP HIP HOOORAY!!!!
Kenny is such a fucking genius.....
The White Sox should be a GENUINE contender in this pathetic Division every year.
Great to see the team get over .500 by August 1 with the fifth highest MLB payroll.
Kenny is a one trick pony....WIN NOW and this idea of this blowhard dismantling the roster is laughable......EVERY season he runs his mouth.

Frasor is a pretty solid reliever with a 2012 option for $3.5 M. Given the market for SP, one would think Jackson could net better. Teahen salary dump hurting that return I guess.

Jackson being a free ajent after the season, coupled with him not being a proven guy in the post-season (or being all that consistent in the regular season) keeps his price down too. I like Frasor. I'd be happy with that deal.

I'm trying to figure this out but on the surface this deal doesn't make a whole lot of sense for either team.

Joe Cowley says Oney is telling him the deal is done. Just waiting to tell Jackson.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweets that this deal is close but not complete, because the money exchange requires approval and the Jays are trying to spin Jackson to another team. That team may be the Cardinals, based on tweets from Joe Strauss, Jon Heyman, and Sherman. Sherman believes the Cardinals could also get a reliever and Colby Rasmus may be involved, but nothing is official.

Now it's a 3 way deal?? That would make a little more sense.

Someone is reporting that Jackson was told he was traded. However they failed to report where he was traded.

He is kinda young to have played for half of the league already.

Jackson has the same WAR (3.0) as Matt Garza. How can one be great and the other suck??

I don't understand the "blow up the team" strategy... not this year anyway. Blowing up the team, to me, means dumping salary and going young. The highest priced players the White Sox have are Peavy, Dunn, Rios, Konerko and Buerhle. Peavy, Rios and Dunn are pretty much untradeable because they suck and make too much. So, barring a miracle, they're still here. Konerko, due to his age, might not bring much in return...and he's earning his contract anyway. Buerhle's gone after this year anyway and has a $15M vesting option next year if he's traded. That's not too attractive for other teams so he'd be pretty difficult to deal and get value in return. I don't think Quentin has a contract next year so he'd be gone. Could get some value for him, but probably not much. And, like Konerko, he actually produces. I guess you would just hope Viciedo can match his loss in production. Alexei Ramirez makes a good amount as well. But I seriously doubt he'd bring any value... and I also doubt many teams would want his contract based on his production. He's good, but I don't think he's worth the deal he has. Had Kenny done this last year, he could've kept Hudson, not signed Dunn or Konerko and brought up Viciedo (Then he'd just wait out the Peavy and Rios contracts) and they'd likely be about as average as they are this year but at least they'd have a legitimate shot at moving in the right direction. This year I just don't see it. Who's leaving that will bring exciting new players? Blow up the team? Sure, but how?

Sounds like that Toronto deal is done....and now Toronto may turn Jackson to the Cards for Colby.

The Blue Jays acquired starter Edwin Jackson and third baseman Mark Teahen from the White Sox for reliever Jason Frasor and starter Zach Stewart, tweets Mark Gonzalez of the Chicago Tribune.

Sickels had Stewart as the Jays 4th best prospect and Fangraphs had him at 6th best.

Man, I feel pretty bad about this Jackson trade. Peavy can't pitch much mroe than 5 innings... and you're going to deal another starter? hearing Danks is also available? What the hell is this?

Oh and for Rios? S'long doofus.

John Danks & Gavin Floyd might not be long for this roster either...Let's see how long Danks goes today vs. the Tigers in the finale. It's my understanding that Floyd's supposed to start one of the games this weekend vs. the red hot Red Sox at "The Cell". Boston's scheduled to start knuckleballer Tim Wakefield along with lefties Jon Lester & Andrew Miller, according to redsox.com.

All in all I don't like it. The Teahen part is great because it opens a roster spot (which should go to Viciedo) but I don't understand trading Jackson for 2 pitchers. The pitching staff is not better after this trade. They need another middle reliever but there are options in the minors in Gregory Infante and Addison Reed.

Keyser, they've now got to find an emergency starter for the finale of the Red Sox series this weekend in the wake of this deal, let alone when the Yankees visit "The Cell" next week. After tomorrow's off day, the White Sox play 17 games in a row before their next scheduled off day.

I agree. Kenny has had success trading starters for younger and better versions of the pitchers he gave away.
