Oh, wait, the Sawx are in town. All this football talk confused me for a minute. Anywhoo, the Sawx seem to be the one really good team that the Sox can beat. That means bad things will probably happen this weekend.

Gavin Floyd (8-9) vs. Tim Wakefield (6-3) Friday at 7:10 p.m.;
Phil Humber (8-6) vs. Jon Lester (10-4) Saturday at 6:10 p.m.;
Mark Buehrle (8-5) vs. Andrew Miller (4-1) Sunday at 1:10 p.m.

The Red Sox are as hot as NESN sideline babe Heidi Watney...Seriously. While Watney will be in the house for the regional sports network's road team call of the series, I don't like the White Sox chances, especially with the possibility that tonight's starting pitcher Gavin Floyd might be making his last Southside start.

I realize that the White Sox swept the Red Sox in Boston earlier this season, but Dustin Pedroia, Adrian Gonzalez, Kevin Youkilis, David Ortiz and company are hitting the cover off the ball lately. The Red Sox are 7-3 in their last 10, and something tells me they're going to make a deal before the MLB Trade Deadline themselves on Sunday. Erik Bedard would love to trade in Seattle blue & grey for Boston red & blue...

Steve Stone will not be behind the mic for tonight's first of 3 with the Red Sox, or "Carmines" as Ken Harrelson refers to them. Mike Huff, the onetime former White Sox outfielder who's now with the Bulls/Sox Academy in Lisle, subs for Stoney due to "personal reasons" this eve at 7:10p on Comcast SportsNet HD.

You need to stop insulting Pedroria by mentioning him and Beckham in the same sentence

:scratch: I thought Pedroia was a better fielder than Beckham. Maybe the SABR people will kill me for that, I just judged by watching them.

Statistically, the White Sox' Gordon Beckham has been the top defensive second baseman in the AL all season, even higher than his Red Sox counterpart in Dustin Pedroia, the Yankees' Robinson Cano, the Rangers' Ian Kinsler and others. Beckham's only committed 4 errors this season, although that 4th should've gone to Alex Rios, quite frankly. Believe it or not, I've actually heard Gold Glove and Beckham in the same sentence, although Pedroia is far and away the better hitter.

Speaking of Pedroia, you know where he is in Boston's lineup, which lurks below:

2 Jacoby "Jerry Remy Must Be Proud" Ellsbury CF
15 Dustin "Get a Shave!" Pedroia 2B
28 Adrian "What the White Sox Are Missing" Gonzalez 1B
20 Kevin "They're Not Booing...They're Youking" Youkilis 3B
34 David "Big Papi" Ortiz DH
13 Carl "Back in Action" Crawford LF
16 Josh "J.D. Who?" Reddick RF
39 Jarrod "Have Fun with His Name" Saltalamacchia (That is the Correct Spelling) C
10 Marco "My Name is Mud Among Red Sox Fans" Scutaro SS

Tim Wakefield and his knuckle ball goes for career win #200 tonight at "The Cell".

Speaking strictly based off Fangraphs, Pedroia is the better fielder. One more error, but covers a wider range than Gordon.

The White Sox whooped up on the Carmines at Fenway, I think the Red Sox are playing much better and Ozzies' under achievers are still ..under achieving

Nice win against a very good Boston team. Let's see if they can keep it up or they crap their pants tomorrow.

BTW, am I seeing things or does Dunn have a three game hitting streak going?

Big win, I am liking the way the White Sox are looking right now. They have been really good since the All Star break. Wakefield was dealing and the Sox still found a way to win. According to Garfein, the Sox BP has a 1.00 ERA over the last 25 games. If the Sox keep playing like this than they should win the division.

Dunn looks like he is finally starting to pull it together, he has been getting better and better and looks much more confident.

He was a legit fourth outfielder for a while. He could play all the positions and the infield corners in a pinch.

As for Rios, when Rongey calls your play "unacceptable" you know you fucked up.

Hmm.

So if Ozzie hadn't stopped managing after 8 innings the tying run would be at the plate.

Well this was the game I thought they'd lose.

Have to come out and win tomorrow. No "Sunday lineup".
