I dont know why they do this to me but they do. They look like they'll never win again. Then Ross Gload saves the day? Ozzie ball miracle? Whatever the case, this team needs to play well at the end of the season. Stay with the pack now and turn up the juice in September. They have the vets to do it and we owe them to stick with them. They are my guys and until they are out of the play-offs, I'm still looking to defend the title in the play-offs. See you in Boston in first round. See you in Detroit in the second. See you in Chicago Mets. We have home field and we will defend the title. -I hope |

i agree, but if (and thats not a very big if the way they've been playing lately- waiting for that big HR) they tank the next 2 games then its back to the same shit. im not saying this team needs to rattle off 10 wins in a row, but having lost 5 series in a row, it'd sure be nice to see them win 6 or 7 series in a row. im not abandoning them, havent lost hope, still have loads of confidence in ozzie and the pitching (even buehrle), but they still need to get, maybe not totally white hot, but very very warm very very soon. |

I will second that notion for Belvie. THis is a good thread Nas because now maybe tonight some of you guys can forego your meds for a day or so. Most of these Sox threads just remind me of what a fearful and paranoid bunch of sports fans there is in Chicago. A lot of you guys must need to re-up your Xanax prescriptions by now. There are EIGHT WEEKS left in the season. That's a LOT of time to put a couple winning streaks together and turn this around. In any endeavor in life, fear and paranoia are for losers. Your team is the defending champion. Act like it. You want your team to have some confidence. Have some confidence yourselves. Belvie has some. You guys should take his lead. |

I think Coast has been hitting the Geritol a little too hard tonight. ![]() |

If they continue to play the way they've been playing, they won't be able to find the pack with a periscope in September. They need to turn it around NOW or the playoffs will be a pipe dream by the middle of August. Last year's slide began when they were 15 games up and they never got knocked out of first place. This year's slide has them hoping for a wild card at best. I have tickets behind the Red Sox dugout in Fenway for the Labor Day series. I'm praying that the season isn't over by then... |

Bass Ale tonight, TM, not Gtol. And I'd suggest you could use an antidote yourself to cure that chicken little virus of yours. |

Minnesota cant keep THAT pace. Detroit has to lose some games in a row. Dont they? Our pitching is the most contagious staff I've ever seen. When a couple get hot, most of them get hot. And Bobby Jenks is proving much better than I expected. He has the most confidence on the team. Get it to the ninth! Our guys need to get some runs early and "pitch" the team to victories. No stupid errors. No stupid baserunning. No stupid coaching. Its going to be a fight but two years ago, we all wouldve taken this team and where they are in the standings. I know I would have. GO SOX! Yankees at the cell AUG 9th. buy me a drink in Left Field stands! WILL BE THE BIGGEST SERIES OF THE YEAR!!!! |

Could it be? 'ol Belvie started this run? A run that will have the Sox in First by Sept 1st? You "read" it here first! I need another drink. |

all the twinkies needed to fall was a stretch in which they lose 4 of 5 or somesuch. they've lost 2 in a row. belvy (and coztansa, c'mon, just a little bit!) is right. wednesday was the twins high point of the season. |

I have still not given up on the division. As for the wild card, the Yankees are the competiton. Sure they got Abreau. They also got Lidle. They should have fun spotting the competiton 5 runs every time he pitches. |

don't the Yankees get like 3 starters back soon from inury? look, we all agree the sox need to start to sweeping or at least winning series to catch up a bit. i don't see the tigers fading, i'd like to think the sox will make the playoffs but prior to this weekend i wasn't very upbeat about their chances.... |

... Matsui and Sheffield come back in late August. Sheffield's represenative has already said that Gary will be popping off about the Abreau acquisition. As for the pitching, well the Sox, as bad as they have been, are a better pitching staff today than New York. You think Burhle has had a bad stretch, the Big Unit lost 19-6 on Saturday. |

Can the Sox PLEASE make a move before the trade deadline? ANYTHING would be better than nothing. I'm sorry, but Sandy Alomar is not going to solve our pitching woes. |

I hate to sound like the typical pessimistic White Sox dope, but I am. I just can't see this team making the playoffs. They've been compared to last year's team but they actually look more like the 2000 squad. In fact, the only reason that team made the playoffs was because the Central was a weaker division than it is now. Javier Vazquez is Jim Parque. |

You mean you're no longer confident that the Sox's stirring Friday night victory over the AAA Orioles will reinvigorate the team? What happened? |

My method of dealing with this team is to expect nothing. Therefore when they achieve nothing, it won't be much of a surprise. After years of practice, I've been pre-conditioned to expect this team to let me down somehow. This slide is actually right on par with previous Sox seasons. Last year was our big wet dream...this year we woke up with nothing but stained sheets. |

Yeah, I admit that was pretty sappy for a message board. |

Chuck Norris would not be happy with the prose. You need to curse and kick someone's ass for penance. |

jim park was the game 1 starter in that series. for most of july they've looked like the 2000 squad. prior to that (for the most part), they looked like the best team in baseball. |
