After awhile people get tired of hearing how guys hitting .165 are really good. I feel bad for the fans who don't have a better postgame host.

I imagine he thinks Pierre is good at baseball. So, therefore, you should like him.

Rongey has often expressed that he hates the stupid smallball game as much as I do and he knows it's counter-productive. But he can't seem to get beyond the concept that there is a certain "type" of leadoff hitter other than a guy good enough to get on a lot. If a caller suggested something as radical as leading off with Quentin, his answer would be "They're not going to do that". And he's correct as far as that goes, but he should follow up by agreeing that is a better idea than having Pierre get the most at-bats on the team rather than sneering at that caller.

Isn't Pierre hitting .320 since the All Star Break? At least he's not a total flop like Dunn/Rios. He is certainly limited but does bring something to the table and the guy busts his ass every fucking day unlike many professional athletes.

I would call him "just a guy". You always want better, but he's okay. You're supposed to be able to live with a guy in left who has no power but can hit around .290 and has some speed when the heart of your order is Quentin, Konerko, Rios, and Dunn. But when Dunn and Rios have 18 homers between them in mid-August, that powerless leftfielder becomes problematic. Especially when you're getting little production at third.

Therein lies the problem, the lack of production at other positions. If Dunn and Rios were worth a shit, Pierre would be an asset.

didnt hear one second of ALL IN ball, didnt get any Cubs either. Got home for the amazing 30 second post game show of Farmio and Dj, and will always enjoy Meatball radio AKA Sox postgame.

Either the producers are just putting through only the angry meatball callers or Sox fans are living up to the Stereotype.

Ranger's not a phony, 312. Ranger has to watch what he says about the White Sox, even though 670 The SCORE, not the team, pays his salary to host the "Lowe's Pregame" and the "Xfinity Postgame" along the TOYOTA Chicago White Sox Radio Network. Even though WSCR is the flagship of the Sox Radio Network, I think the team themselves has editorial control and might take exception if Ranger, Ed Farmer and/or Darrin Jackson badmouth the team and certain players unless it's absolutely warranted.

I don't know if he's a phony, but his approach is the source of all his problems with callers. That's why it's absurd when morons like B&b say stupid shit like how they feel sorry for him. He causes his own problems by bending over backward to discuss the Sox in the most positive light. Most Sox fans don't want to hear that after a tough loss. A real Sox fan could commiserate. He just isn't one. And that's the difference between him and Doug and O'B. Those guys really hurt and they're really angry after a Bear loss. The fans can identify with that. Yeah, angry Sox callers say some dumb stuff in the aftermath of bad baseball. Doug and O'B say some dumb stuff too. That's what fans do.

I predict some Seinfeld quotes involving the word phony... I'm too lazy right now to look for 'em though.

I loved the argument that Ranger got into last night with a caller named Frank...I think (may have been a Don...I don't know for sure). He said that Ranger was an Adam Dunn apologist and Ranger asked him if he knew the difference between "reasons" and "excuses"...pretty damn funny exchange, IMO.

Don't understand why its so hard to understand why a guy who's livelihood is dependent on having good relationships with a team might try to be positive about a team that has been looking very good since the All-Star break. Its not like he is saying that they will win the division for sure and he has criticized Dunn and Rios frequently as well. He is not Zach Zaidman or Cubs and Blackhawks beat writer bad.

Some Sox fans have been really weird this year, yes this team is frustrating but its like people want to focus on the negatives rather than the fact that the Sox have remained competitive with some unbelievably fluky shit happening. NOBODY could have seen Dunn's struggles coming. ALL Sox fans were very excited about his signing. No way Dunn stays this bad for the rest of his contract here. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts picking it up at the end of the year. The Sox have stuck in their because the pitching has been fucking great and the offense has been good enough.

Now I can be a huge negative nelly about the Bears. I do this because the organization has made mistake after mistake. How long has the offensive line been terrible? Way too long. At least the Sox attempt to improve the team, but its not going to work out every single year.

As for JP, I have to admit he has had a great second half. He is still way overvalued just like the concept of the leadoff hitter (only does that one time a game) but he has improved big time. Especially on the defensive side of the game.

This is something I would love to address, The FLUKY thing? It's been used now 3 of the last 5 years, the "It's just one of those things". Was going to address this at the end of the season and something I have been hinting at all year in posts, how about the fact the team is just bad and the GM has assembled a bad team?

And regarding Dunn, many roto geeks predicted a downfall for Dunn this year in the AL. The guy has 2 of the top worst strikeout seasons in MLB history already and is on pace for a 3rd, assuming Ozzie plays him ever again? Maybe they did not say he would bat .140, but I did see 25 HR's predicted with career lows in BA.

Post subject:  Re: The Ranger Show

On last night's pregame a caller basically said that Ozzie was an egomaniac who makes everything about him. Rongey totally disagreed with the guy. I don't see how he could. When Cowley is writing his press releases, who does Rongey think the sources are? How many Guillen websites are out there? What is "Triple Crown Productions"? Who is feeding the fire on the Marlins rumors? Who continually refers to himself as "the face of the franchise"?

And I certainly don't think Ozzie wants to lose ballgames, but anyone who believes he doesn't have a smug, "those are Kenny's guys, what do you want from me?" attitude when it comes to Rios and Dunn isn't paying attention.

The most recent wisdom from Ranger: The problem with the Sox is that they (a) haven't hit enough homers and (b) have left too many men on base. And he said it as if the two things were totally unrelated and completely divorced from each other.

Let me explain it. Men on first and second and nobody out. There are three chances for a guy to hit one out and leave no runners on. When Tyler Flowers is ordered to bunt (Forget the fact that he is incapable of doing so. It's a bad idea if Brett Butler is at the plate.), you have effectively eliminated one-third of your chances for that bases-clearing homerun. It isn't tough to figure out.

Ranger is correct about the lack of homers and that this team ranked 11th in the AL with runners in scoring position going into last night's game. There are other reasons why the White Sox are in the position they're in and Ranger should look no further than his own ballpark where he originates all the pre & postgame shows at 35th & Bill Veeck Drive. Despite last night's 8-1 Sox winner over the just as fading Indians, the Southsiders are only 32-37 at U.S. Cellular Field compared to 40-33 away from home. Needless to say, that's not good enough for a team that's supposed to be "ALL IN".
