good defense at second base is nice but not all that critical and it's not like he is mindblowingly good. Let Lillibridge get some at bats there as he is hitting much better than Beckham. He's never had to earn his position and while I don't think he is dogging it, let him have some appreciation for a starting job in MLB.

Well, with Paulie still banged up Lillibridge is the only backup at for 1st base. I suppose you could have Vizquel at 2nd but you yourself said the more you see of Lillibridge the more you dislike him. Brent is a nice player off the bench and to start 2 or 3 times a week, but he is not a regular.

Even though he's been bad vs. lefties, given the fact the Rangers are starting two lefties in Matt Harrison tonight & Derek Holland Sunday, Gordon Beckham's going to be in there barring injury at the bottom of Ozzie's lineup.

If you want to see Omar Vizquel cover the tabs at second, even though he's a switch-hitter, that might not be a smart idea either. Before he went 2 for 4 last night starting at third base, Vizquel was mired in a 2 for 22 slump and had a BA that was not much higher than Beckham. He's starting to show his age and it's just as painful to watch Vizquel bat as Beckham, too.

The way this White Sox roster is now structured as a result of Mark Teahen getting dealt to Toronto as part of a three-way deal that also sent Edwin Jackson to St. Louis and got the Sox pitchers Zach Stewart & Jason Frasor, you're not going to see Beckham or Brent Morel get a great deal of rest anymore. Those two are going to play, despite obvious weaknesses in both of their bats. You're going to have to tolerate Beckham & Morel's growing pains, even if the Sox fall out of a race that quite frankly they shouldn't be in.

Good case could be made right now that the unheralded 2nd baseman on the north side is better than Gordo. Of course he doesnt have quite as impressive a head of hair though.

The jury is still very much out if Darwin Barney is the long-term second baseman with the Cubs. Tomorrow when FOX Sports brings you the Cardinals/Cubs' game at 3:10p, the talk about Starlin Castro from the guys calling the game will start up again. Joe Buck & Tim McCarver, who called that debacle in St. Louis a few weeks ago, didn't think that Castro is long for shortstop and Buck in particular thought Castro's better suited for third base instead.

I'm not talking about sitting him for a month. Sit him for a series to see how he reacts.

Guys, that's not happening either. Besides, the White Sox have 2 off days next week Monday & Thursday.

What in the blue hell does this have to do with Beckham needing to sit?

RP, I'm as disappointed as anyone in Beckham's offense so far. I've liked what I've seen defensively at second base from him, and I wish the White Sox had him at second from the getgo. I think this upcoming offseason is a biggie for him, where he has not only a lot of work to do, but he may have a new manager and hitting coach among other things come 2012. I'm not about to give up on the kid, even after an awful strikeout with the BASES LOADED that sealed the White Sox fate last night vs. an Indians' team that quite frankly isn't much better than they are.

Why not send him down to AAA? There's calls everyday screaming for Dunn to go down (even though you can't do that), why not send down Bacon for 1-2 weeks?

Never seen a guy choke more than he does. I don't have the stats, but it sure seems like he does in just about every situation.

You should have posted one of those gifs of somebody getting their shot blocked into the 8th row. Or maybe trying to dunk and hitting the rim.

Cause Darkside just swatted your shit in a rather rude manner.

If the White Sox wanted to send Beckham back to Triple "A" Charlotte, they should have had done so a long time ago, and they should have sent Brent Morel back to the minors as well. These two guys may be more known for their gloves, but both guys have had trouble at times this season adjusting to what opposing pitchers have thrown. I also think we as fans may have also expected too much from Beckham & Morel in this "ALL IN" season.

How exactly did he do that? I said send him down for 1-2 weeks. Darkside says AAA is over next week, so that means they can send him down for at least a week. Am I missing something?

SHARK don't take it so personally that Gordon Beckham is the worst starting 2nd baseman in all of baseball. I have looked at his WAR so its official.

Thing is, he is mindblowingly good. He is statistically the best defensive 2nd baseman in the AL (maybe in the entire league). His offense is just hurting a team like the Sox alot. If he was on a team like the Rangers he would be fine.

He's bad at hitting, very................very bad at hitting.

Time for a stint in the minors or perhaps a career in the minors.

Insert "FAMILY FEUD" buzzer. If the White Sox really wanted to send Beckham back to the minors, they would have done so a long time ago. It didn't happen then, it's not happening now.
