Rangers are in town. They're healthy, and they're pretty damn good. That means that the Sox will probably pull off some damn miracle sweep or something. I doubt it, but it's possible. Probables: Fri: Matt Harrison (10-8, 3.19 ERA) vs Jakemeister (5-5, 4.69 ERA) Sat: Alexi Ogando (12-5, 3.33 ERA) vs Johnny DANKS (5-9, 3.95 ERA) Sun: Derek Holland (11-4, 4.23 ERA) vs Small Game Jav...I mean Gavin (10-10, 4.66 ERA) |

I don't see Peavy or Floyd holding the Rangers offense in check. Danks probably can and will, but the Sox have not done well against Ogando. |

The best thing about this series is the Rangers just came off an intense four game series in LA that included a night game last night (thanks LAA!) where they had the lead but blew the save . Hopefully they come in jet-lagged and a little gassed and the Sox are able to take advantage. |

This is kind of a last stand series for the season. They will gain or lose ground every night and they really cannot afford to lose any more ground. I don't picture it going well. |

I agree. They probably stay anywhere from 3-6 games back the whole rest of the way. 3 or 4 games after Labor Day can be overcome, but it certainly won't be easy. Not with this White Sox team anyway. |

These Rangers have a lot of momentum and seem to have built some distance between themselves and the Angels in the AL West. I think we're looking at the end of these 2011 White Sox this weekend and next week when they head out to Anaheim & Seattle for a 5 game road trip. |

Oh, and lamentably I think both Harrison and Ogando are going to defeat the White Sox this weekend, while the White Sox will win Sunday to end their three game losing streak. Ogando has been coming back to earth over the last month or two after hitting the wall in his first year as a starter (a wall that early-season rookie sensation Michael Pineda has hit so hard it's reminiscent of those two red stains in Timecop), however, watch this be the one start in the last month were Ogando goes 6.2 innings giving up 1ER while striking out 7, or something like that. At the very least, I'm going to go out on a short limb and proclaim that the inexplicably-effective Matt Harrison is going to go out there and shove it up the White Sox' giggy tonight. |

With this division, anything is possible. Any of the top three could just fall completely apart. The Sox will probably keep teasing us the entire way, but I wouldn't be surprised if they stumble into the playoffs. Rios is playing a little better and Dunn is finally getting on base. That helps a little.... I guess. This division is never going to be clenched until the very last few days. The way this season has been, the Sox are going to sweep or win 2 out of 3 convincingly. I am not upset about last nights loss, you cannot plan for your starter to be hit in the head with a line drive. I do think the Stewart is going to do better than Humber as a start though. I could see Humber moving to the pen when he comes back Beckham is god awful at the plate. If this team could hit it would not be as much of a problem. He is so damn good defensively. I wouldn't be surprised if he is moved to a team filled with hitters (we were supposed to be) and put 8th or 9th. At this point, him preventing runs for us isn't enough to offset him flailing out every at bat (he doesn't just strike out, he flails out). Anyways, WCIU is blacked out in Rockford, so I won't be paying a ton of attention. |

Another packed house tonight. And on Elvis Night. Sox win 2 of 3 and finish 2.5 games out of first. |

Jakemeister is pissed. He let up on the grindiness and gave up 4 runs. |

Jake Peavy is completely unwilling to try to change his pitching style or listen to suggestion. The asshole will not accept that he is not a fireballer anymore. He keeps pitching like one, it isn't fucking working. He throws fastballs and cutters right down the middle of the plate at 91 mph. You are going to get crushed. This team had a great start to this game and they are very good defensively. Jake refuses to try to throw to induce the ground ball or pop up and he looks like a fucking fool. No we have to chase the rangers, against a good pitcher who might be starting to calm down. |

Im sure that Stone Pony will lay into Peavy they way he did Kerry Wood about not changing mechanics or listening to advice to change his pitching style after suffering an arm / shoulder injury. |

Peavy needs to be launched next year if any way possible. BTW the Sox will be swept this series. |

The role of Adam Dunn was played tonight by Tyler Flowers. Golden Sombrero for the Sox catcher. |

This team needs to be put out of its misery as soon as fucking possible. Just do a 10 games nosedive, please, and end it all. |

I'll see that and raise you a Zambrano, Soriano, and Ramirez. Here is what Tom and Jerry will see on the books at the start of 2012. Zambrano= 1 year left at $19,000,000 = $19,000,000 Ramirez= ! Option year left at $2,000,000 =$$2.000,000 Soriano= 3 years left at $19,000,000= $57,000,000 Cubs total = $78,000,000 2012 $72.6 mil on the books 2013 $28.8 2014 $19.0 2015 $0 Peavy= 2 years at $17,000,000= $34,000,000 Dunn= 3 years at almost $15,000,000 per = $44,000,000 Rios= 3 years left nearly $13,000,000 per plus 1 option year 4 years total = $39,000,000 Sox total = $117,000,000 2012 $89.5 on the books 2013 $62.5 2014 $38.5 2015 $11.0 2016 $1.0 I wonder if Jerry calls Tom and asks him "Just how did you get rid of that General Manager who over spent and under produced" |

Dunn fails with a runner on 3rd....what a surprise. The Sux have lost 3 in a row now....Don't stop now boys!!! I know they have a 1 run lead going into the 9th, but they are perfectly capable of losing this one. |
