Do you make a play if you're Kenny? I mean, Dunn can play in the outfield if necessary, or not at all preferrably, and BigJim can play a little first right? He's a real rentaplayer. No contract after 2011. He's having a pretty good 2nd half... |

Well the Sox already have a first baseman who can't play in the field right now (Konerko), a DH who can't hit (Dunn), their best offensive threat (Quentin) is on the shelf until at least the weekend.... I mean I guess, but I think the only way you do that is to either DL Konerko or Quentin to make room for him. The Rosters expand in 10 days anyway, and whoever is DL'ed would still be eligible for the playoff roster if that were the case. |

I think you gotta DL Quentin if he's not ready to go by Friday, which I'm hearing is the next possible time. Man, Thome is having a solid 2nd half and they need some power hitting from the left side. NEED it. |

Frank Coztansa wrote: They do need it, and they've already spent $54 fucking million for it That's the deal though... I mean, thome is cheap, and temporary. Like you only get him for 35 games. I think it's a good claim. |

Somebody get Mark Kotsay on the horn http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kotsama01.shtml The sponsorship of his page is pretty funny Jim Thome sponsor(s) this page. Highly underrated, Mark Kotsay became the best defensive designated hitter in American League history in 2010. |

According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, there is a "high expectation" among baseball executives that the White Sox will win the claim for Jim Thome. What's the point. Let him go back to the Phillies and win a World Series. |

Well, Cleveland placed a claim on Thome and won: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/6896481/cleveland-indians-claim-jim-thome-deal-not-done-sources-say If Jim decides to wave his no trade clause, that's where is looks like he's going. |
