Okay what do you think of Rick Hahn with so many people saying he's in the lead for the Cubs GM job?

Also got into an interesting conversation with a good fiend who's a Sox fan. WE got into the old if you could take one person from the other team who would you take.

Players for him the obvious is Starlin Castro. I pointed out the Sox have a good SS but he said "And move Castro to 2nd. Beckham sucks"

But then he said "Actually can we trade Steve Stone for Bob Brenly?"

In case you wondered who I'd take off the Sox I said Buerhle.

The second question who would you take off the Cubs?

By the way back in the 90s this was an interesting discussion about who the Cubs would take off the Sox.

The answer isn't always the best player especially when you are strong at that position.

In the 90s the best player on the Sox was obviously Frank Thomas. But while Grace wasn't big Frank he was a very good player.

The Cubs had a gaping hole at third I said the Cubs would be better off with Ventura/Grace than the gaggle of yahoos at third and Thomas.

I'd be cool if Kenny was bumped up to VP of Baseball Operations or something and Hahn took the GM job.

And I agree with your friend. Give me Castro and move him to Second.

for the record, i'm in the 90% percentile in terms of CSFMBers who are nice and civil with you. i swear to god i don't judge you because odds are that people have me grouped in with you as just about as big of a "misfit" or "freak" of the place as they perceive you to be. people give you wayyyyy to much shit when you're just trying to promote a healthy dialogue in your own unique way, which is exactly what i do.... in approximately ~1500 or more words =D

so with that duly disclaimed, can you please tell me what a shamus is? i'm asking purely for the sociology, as always!

SHamus is another word for detective. It stems from my love of the Trixie Belden series where she was a schoolgirlshamus. I haven't been a schoolgirl since dinosaurs roamed the earth but I love the Cubs.

Not really sure what to think of Hahn. I know he has been an A list GM candidate for years now. Not really sure why, given the division the Sox are in and their payroll, they have underacheived since 2005. If the Cubs have to "trade" for him, I would tell the Cubs they can have Hahn if they also take Dunn.
