Verlander should pound the nail into the coffin of this truly pathetic White Sox team tonight.
The season for the Sox began and ended in APRIL.
I can wash the taste of this year's edition of the Fighting Reinsdorfs away at a University of Michigan tailgate tomorrow.

No, Bob. This team's M.O. is to kick Verlander's ass tonight and lose to the other two guys.

It's going to be a great pitching matchup with Danks against Verlander. Danks needs to be economical in his pitches, match Verlander in innings pitched and make this a battle of bullpens.

The lineup is in for the White Sox, and there's a notable change and a familiar name in tonight's lineup vs. 20-game winner Justin Verlander of the Tigers. Check it out.

1 Juan Pierre LF (L)
10 Alexei Ramirez SS (R)
14 Paul Konerko 1B (R)
12 Anthony John Pierynski DH (L)
24 Dayan Viciedo RF (R)
30 Alejandro De Aza CF (L)
17 Tyler Flowers C (R)
22 Brent Morel 3B (R)
15 Gordon Beckham 2B (R)

John Danks, coming off a complete game win in Seattle, starts the biggest 3-game series of the season in Detroit this eve.

I may not know much but I don't know about batting a guy cleanup straigth off of coming off the 15 day DL against the best pitcher in baseball right now

You think Alex Rios and/or Adam Dunn are much better? I think not...

Why not Beckham then?

A.J. batting 4th might not be as bad as Rios and/or Dunn. You won't see Beckham there anytime soon...

Frank, I'm not the manager of the White Sox. You know that as well as I do.

  What does that have to do with Beckham and is lackluster .233 batting average?

I thought it had to do with Ozzie electing to pencil A.J.'s name in the #4 spot in tonight's order instead of Alex Rios. Gordon Beckham had NOTHING TO DO with this!

Right. You said you won't see Beckham hitting cleanup anytime soon. I agreed and said thats because he sucks and has a .233 average.

Both are facts, SHARK. You can't deny that.

I had read how Danks was so excited about the matchup with verlander and the Tigers and I looked at Danks' ERA since late June (just over 2 going into last nights game) and thought it should really be a good pitchers duel....not so much :?

After the hanger that was crushed foul, I knew the game was over unless he took Santos out. But what can a manayer do? He has to close with the closer.

Cannot remember the last time I saw a closer get drilled like that in basically an elimination game and not be scarred for life. If I were the manager I don't know if I would give him the ball tomorrow or give him the rest of the year off.

You really think Santos viewed this as an "elimination" game? He will be fine. It is not like he did this in the last game of the year with the playoffs on the line. He has only been pitching for a short time, it is the growing pains that come with it.

Yes, this was the last day of the year with the playoffs on the line. If you think they are still a factor, that is fine, but this was their last gasp as a contender. If he just considered this as another game and he just had a "bad day at the office," thence is not paying attention. Those meatballs are inexcusable. Trust me, this will haunt him for a long, long time.

So because hootmon has determined that in his mind the Sox are officially eliminated therefore that means that Santos should know this and be crushed?
