2 months too late I fucking say. Quote: CHICAGO -- Jake Peavy's 2011 odyssey officially has come to a close. As first reported by MLB.com on Saturday, the White Sox decided to shut down Peavy for the remainder of the season with the team falling 9 1/2 games the American League Central-leading Tigers. Rookie Dylan Axelrod will take Peavy's place on Wednesday afternoon against the Tigers. The original thought was to cut short Peavy's season in order to prevent injury, with the right-hander coming back from surgery to reattach his lat muscle last July. But as Peavy explained Sunday morning, that small level of fear served as just part of the decision-making process. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/ar ... s&c_id=cws |

Wins Above Replacement: Jake Peavy 2.9 John Danks 2.8 That's right. The guy whose back fell off a year ago and 'was never going to throw another pitch again' but he busted his ass to get back as soon as possible to try and help his team win when he easily could have just sat back and cashed checks had a better year than the healthy as a horse 26 year old entering his prime. They should shut Danks down instead. |

Danks has made $9.45M the last 2 seasons ($3.45M in '10 $6M in '11) while Floyd has made $7.75M ($2.75M in '10 $5M in '11). Floyd is set to make $7M next season and even though Danks has had a shitty season he will make at least $8M-$9M next year through arbitration. Floyd has a team option in '13 for $9.5M. |

Danks has not been good this year. Peavy has not been good this year. Neither one has helped the club out much. The guy may have busted his ass to get back on the mound, but outside of a complete game early in the year against Cleveland, and a relief appearance against Washington, Peavy has hurt the Sox more than he has helped them this year. |

Sell high on Danks and Floyd right now. Peavy is going to be more than fine next season. I'd also bring Buehrle back if he'll sign reasonably enough. 3 years for $30 million? |

Post subject: | Re: Jakemiester shut down |
You would not be selling high on Danks. If Floyd can finish the season out strong and end with 15 wins and a 4 ERA, there would be plenty of takers. I think Buehrle's year was a product of plenty of rest with the six man rotation. |

good dolphin wrote: You would not be selling high on Danks. Not as high as you once could have, maybe, but I think you'll do better moving him prior to next season than waiting to dump him at the next year's deadline. Even if he is great next year. You move him now and a team has the whole season to try to sign him. If you don't bring back Buehrle, maybe you want to try to sign him yourself. |
