I like this move. Sandy knows the game inside and out. He should be good at handling pitchers. He should have the respect of current players as he was an all star not too long ago. His brother will be able to steal some of wrigely's more loyal demographics.

If Alomar is given the reigns, that might help keep Buehrle around too. Buehrle really enjoyed throwing to Alomar the couple times he was on the Sox.

Would rather have Dave Martinez. Alomar is a first base coach, Martinez has been sitting with Joe Maddon for years.

What do White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham & Marlins' 2B Alex Infante have in common? If Sandy Alomar, Jr. indeed becomes the White Sox new manager and now that Ozzie will be filling out the lineup card for the Miami Marlins, both guys might want to change their numbers for the 2012 season.

Best managers always seems to be catchers. Torre, Scioscia, Leyland, Maddon, etc.

Agreed. Hiring a catcher is usually the best way to go.

defensive minded catchers to be even more specific.

Wont see Pudge, Piazza, or Todd hundley managing anytime soon

But you might see Matheny, Bako, or A Molina

I was just thinking of current guys. Forgot Bochy.

And Eric Wedge didn't really help my point so I kinda ignored him.

Money talks. The only way Buerhle is back is if the Chairman gets sentimental again.

I don't think Uncle Jerry is in the sentimental mood. He wants payroll cut, even though the next manager will have 3 albatrosses in Peavy, Rios & Dunn he can't be stubborn with as Ozzie was down the stretch.

If Jerry Reinsdorf is "Uncle Jerry" to Sox fans, and Jerry Reinsdorf considers Ozzie Guillen to be his son, do Sox fans all think of themselves as Ozzie Guillen's cousins? Does Oney ever do Thanksgiving in Alsip?

Sandy Alomar Jr. named #Indians bench coach. Replaces Tim Tolman, who won't return in current role because of health concerns.
