Jeff Manto has two years of experience as a major league hitting coach with Pittsburgh in 2006 and 2007. That's the only major league experience that any of the three new coaches -- third base coach Joe McEwing, bench coach Mark Parent and Manto -- have as they join the staff of White Sox first-year manager Robin Ventura. |

In other unrelated news, I've just been hired by the White Sox as a special adviser to their in-house rapper. |

Everyone gots to start somewhere. By 2014, this will be the most sought after coaching staff in the majors. I can hope. Right? Right?!! |

The 2012 White Sox coaching staff gives new meaning to "junior circuit". A storied major league baseball team like the Sox hiring an entire coaching staff of inexperienced greenhorns is shameful. But that's what happens when an owner lets an insecure douchbag GM get out of control. This is a risky strategy for Jerry & Kenny which could result in a lot of people dressed like seats at cominsky stadium. |

umm guys, chill the fuck out. while the white sox aren't rebuilding, they are officially in a "holding pattern" as they have to start thinking about 2014 and 2015, so said kenny williams in an interview right after ozzie left. so if your team isn't even actively "rebuilding" as much as it is in a "holding pattern", why would you want to hire a coaching staff with experience and thus expectations for a non-minimum-wage salary? go on the cheap, sit back and basically wait out peavy/rios/dunn's contracts (which is why kenny said 2014/2015, as i think rios' final year is 2015?) and then when you have all that money hopefully at least ~2 homegrown position players turn out to be above-average everyday MLB players (not counting beckham not only cuz he's already here, but because he's not an above-average everyday MLB player... well maybe defensively but not offensively) and then once you have some $$$ in the coffers, you can turn around and make the next bunch of high-profile trades/signings that set the franchise back another 5 years =D kenny WILL be here in 2014/15, riiiiight? |
