It might be better to get the Wild Card. We will play either the A's or the Yankees in the first round. Whoever has the best record between the two we will play in the first round. It could be the A's if we are the wild card team. They are close to the Yanks record and they have an easier schedlue obviously because they play the weak West division down the stretch. I'm rooting for the A's to have a better record then the Yanks. I think we could beat both but I'm rooting for the better option. It might come down to the last week where the Central is in question. We could rest our playoff starter and tank the division in order to get the A's. That would be the smart decision. Imagine that. Being the Wild card might mean you draw the lesser team. Don't dismiss this guys. The Yanks are the better team but they might have a worse record based on the weighted division shedule. What do you guys think? I'm always thinking outside the box but I think I raise an interesting question here. It's a no brainer to me. You want the A's and sacrafice home field advantage. Home field means less in baseball then in any other sport. It matters in the World Series because of the DH but we have that based on the All Star game. We want the wild card if it means we get the A's over the Yanks. |

If the White Sox can make the playoffs, I really would like to avoid the Yankees in Round 1 - their hitting is incredible even without Matsui and Sheffield, plus the addition of Abreu was perfect for their lineup, another hitter who can get on base for Giambi and ARod. Yes, the Yankees have very questionable pitching, but with the way the White Sox starters have struggled this season, the last thing I want to do is get into having to outscore the Yankees. |

I didn't miss anything. I'm simply saying that if the A's finish with a better record then the Yankees the wild card team would play the A's. Yes the wild card will either be the Sox or the Tigers. No doubt in my mind You're right the Sox could have the lead in the division by then. Or maybe the Yankees will have a better record then the A's down the stretch. I'm just giving everybody something to think about. The last week of the season the Sox might have a decision to make. Both teams will be tough but I'd rather play the A's if given a choice. |

That would be a fun to watch. But if the Sox have the Wild Card wrapped up with 4 games to go and they are 1 game behind the Tigers they have a decision to make. Witch team would they want to play? Plus they can set the rotation. The season ends on a Sunday and playoffs start on Tuesday. They can put the kids in. Just watch, Josh Fields will hit 4 home runs and the Sox will accidently win. LOL. |

Historically, the Sox are absolutely terrible out in Oakland. I would not view a series against the A's as ideal. The Sox are 7-14 against them in the last 3 seasons, with a 3-10 record on the road. The Yankees pitching staff is dogshit. One could argue their line-up 1 through 9 is slightly stronger, but the Sox rotation gives them the decided edge over the course of a series. |

Are we getting a little ahead of ourselves. I'll take the division championship and home field advantage EVERY TIME. |
