That is an odd move. You had him under contract for awhile at a cheap price. Who is the closer now? |

I need the old "Maybe he traded him as part of a future deal" that has been a Kenny apologist line for years. |

ERA in the 2's with over 100 K and 16 walks... Still, kinda strange... |

DALLAS -- The Blue Jays have acquired closer Sergio Santos from the White Sox for minor-league pitcher Nestor Molina. An announcement was made in the media room at the MLB Winter Meetings. Santos appears to be the Blue Jays' closer for the 2012 season. The 28-year-old right-hander had 30 saves in 36 chances for the White Sox in 2011. He had a 3.55 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a whopping 92 strikeouts in 63 1/3 innings. Santos is signed for less than $3 million per season through 2014, so he's a very affordable back-end option for the Jays. Molina, 22, was 10-3 with a 2.58 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 115 strikeouts in 108 1/3 innings in High-A last season. He was then promoted to Double-A, where he was utterly dominant in five starts. He went 2-0 with a 0.41 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 33 strikeouts against just two walks in 22 innings. |

Molina is a really good prospect. I still don't understand why you'd move Santos for him though. |

Come on Biggie, you're pruning stuff in the Sox thread now? I've got a couple hundred suggestions on what can go in this section. |

Santos gone and Thornton on the block??? Kenny has a horseshoe up his ass. Molina will probably win 15 for the big club this year. |

Kenny just used the bad word: ChuckGarfien Chuck Garfien Williams says "It is the start of a rebuilding" and "we'll probably keep the rest of the starting pitching intact." 1 minute ago |

Not sure what the Sox are doing. I think someone needs to make sure Uncle Jerry isn't on the decline like The Boss. |

That's right Sox Fans, the Mustacheless-Edward-James-Olmos-looking Sergio Santos has been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for pitching prospect Nestor Molina. No word on who Nestor looks like just yet, but Molina, a 22-year-old from Venezuela, was 12-3, pitching at Class A Dunedin (Fla.) and Class AA New Hampshire for the Jays last season. For his minor-league career he is 22-7 with a 2.21 ERA. |

I feel the way I always feel after a KW trade. We didn't get full market value. A proven closer with 4 more years of team control signed to a minimal contract should be worth it's weight in gold. Molina has great numbers...for when he replaces Peavy at the end of his contract in the 2013 rotation. |

This deal doesn't make much sense unless there's a bigger trade in the works. Sergio Santos wasn't earning that much money I don't think... |

Molina's numbers in the minors are absurd. K/BB 263/32 Why would the Jays make this deal? Great deal for Sox |

Kinda sorta. There can be a TON of talent in AA, that's why a lot of guys make the jump from AA to the big leagues. |

Uh...No. Thats not even close to true. Most high talent never even goes to AAA. |

Who closes for the White Sox next year? Matt Thornton? Jake Peavy? Chris Sale? Oh wait...I forgot. Sale's supposed to start next year. Nevermind! |

Upside #3 starter, per Jim Callis of baseball America. Prospect #2 for Sox now Was Jays #18 prospect. No expectation for him next year in bigs. Also, Zach Stewart not a starter per Callis. |
