Post subject:  PROVE IT!

6 years ago Kenny wanted to tell the world how he is going to prove everyone wrong that winning the World Series was not a fluke! he heard the critics loud and clear and in order to prove them wrong he couldn't wait to do it again!

He heard it loud and clear that "LUCKY" was what everyone said. He publicly said on many occassions that the WS was not a fluke and he was going to prove it!!!!

Nobody presented the challenge to him, he offered it up to prove everyone wrong.

Since then the Sox have made the playoffs 1 time and even that had to be questioned as they got to play that 1 game playoff V Minn at home, after losing the season series, but the LUCK of the Coin got them a home game for that tiebreaker.

The issue is not whether you think the Sox WS in 2005 was luck (we all know it was  ), but it was Kenny offering up his own challenge that I don't think winning 1 playoff game in 6 years convinces anyone other than the LUCK was a bigger part that he likes to admit.

That 2005 World Series win was pretty sweet.

What was your favorite moment?

Mine is Konerko's grand slam.

Uribe's catch in Game 4 that garnered very little national attention for its greatness.

The post was really not meant to break down the 2005 WS. The players and managers deserved it. They did what they needed to do to win. It just wasnt the plan the GM had.

I am very consistant on this type of issue with GM's. They have a plan and sometimes that plan does not work, but the team wins another way. I dont give the GM credit then.

All BigFan has left are the voices in his head and the icy caress of White Sox paranoia.

Any day now he will be be locked and loaded in a clock-tower targeting anything that has a White Sox logo on it....except now in his twisted mind everything has a White Sox logo on it.

Because Williams is not that good of a GM?
Besides, the closest bigfan's team has gotten to a WS in the past 60 years was luck. Lucky that in 2003 that teams wanted to dump Lofton and Aram.

So the only championships that aren't luck are the ones that are by teams that win another in the next 10 years?

Here is the really funny part. By far, the greatest dynasty in Chicago history is often characterized as the result of getting lucky in the draft by getting the greatest player in NBA history. At least that's what gets said when I play the "Reinsdorf has 7 titles. How many do you have?" card.

I guess that's one way to look at it. I might say the Bulls got really unlucky to get stuck with the third pick in a draft that included the greatest player ever.

"The little guy is something special"- Mike Ditka quote.
Mike's decision to start Flutie over Steve Fuller caused the Bears to lose to the Redskins in the playoffs.
