On Sunday Ranger was interviewing the Sox new hitting coach. Many times during the season, like Bernstein, Ranger has stated that hitting coaches are worthless. Jeff Manto, the new coach for the Sox, said that some of the players listen to gurus at home during the off season that throw them batting practice in a cage and tell them they're awesome. Meanwhile Manto said the guys are not ready to hit a 95 mph pitch with movement on it. He said his approach is to provide players with information if they want help. So which is it? Are they worthwhile to the players who listen to the hitting coach or are Bernstein and the Ranger right?

the date on that sh00p is 23-jan-2011, which is from the eve of the packers beating the bears in the NFC championship game. les was on the air that night and he was just going off all SUPER MEATBALL kicking every packers fan's ass all over the place.

he said something like "look, your football team won... but tomorrow we're going to wake up in the greatest city in the world, chicago, and you're going to wake up in the toilet that is brown county wisconsin" (or whatever county greenbay is in)

thats when i was like "holy shit les is in rare form being king of all meatballs" and the shoop was made.... in roughly ~2 minutes or thereabouts, but still, it was made. and it was posted here. and it was glorious.

I think hitting coaches are only as useful as the trust a player puts in them. Nothing short of a benching will make a player listen to one and no manager is going to bench a good player because he doesn't follow his HC.
