Matchups to come.

The Indians aren't very good, but, neither are the Sox.

Sox win the series, come to the home opener at .500

Chris will face the Indians' Josh Tomlin tonight in Cleveland. He's also penciled in Sunday to face the Tigers' Rick Porcello in the first of those retro Sundays in the 1972 White Sox throwbacks.

Holy crap Aaron Cunningham is their starting CF? The Sox traded him 4-5 years ago to the D'Bags for Danny Richar. This guy's bounced around a lot.

Nice for Sale to be able to go out with some run support already. I don't think a Sox starter has pitched with a lead yet.

Good lord that slow curveball was nasty. If he keeps throwing it like that he's going to get a lot of ugly swings this year.

I'm relegated to listening on the radio through my phone but it sounds like Sale is pitching one hell of a game.

Cleveland does not have a very good offense, but Sale looks good. Not dominating today, but he could really end up being something once he tightens things up. He has made a couple of guys look silly. He's also got a 4 run lead which is awesome!

Hell of an outing by Sale. He's going to be fun to watch this year.

Kids can play. I just hope DeAza keeps on being "bad at baseball" the way bernstein says he is.

You would think the departure of Juan Pierre would make Bernsie happy.

Nice! Santiago made 1 mistake but recovered to get the job done.

So the organization that can't draft or develop players and owners of the worst minor league system in the history of the world just got a victory from their 2010 1st round pick (Chris Sale) and hold from their 2010 3rd round pick (Addison Reed) and a save form their 2006 30th round pick (Hector Santiago). Got it.

Are you disputing that their minor league system isn't awful?

On another note, it's going to be difficult for the White Sox to have extended winning streaks this season unless their offense can score consistently. The pitching staff has no ace, is probably a group of #3 types (I love Sale's potential, but he's no ace yet), but they will provide a good number of quality starts, and the bullpen can be very good if Santiago can nail down that closer role.

Who knows if the Sox minor league system is awful or not. The 'experts' sure don't know. Baseball Prospectus didn't have Santiago listed in the Sox top 20 prospects and 2 months later he's closing out games. How could they completely miss on a guy like that in such an awful system?

Those "experts' have the greatest gig in the world. They talk shit, people lap it up and they are held accountable for nothing. Where can I apply for a job like that??

I understand the ranking of minor leagues and the value of having multiple good prospects. However, the real goal of a minor league system is to produce players for the MLB team. I have a feeling the Sox are nowhere near the bottom in that result over the last few years.

9,473...That was the tickets sold for last night's White Sox/Indians' game at (Not So) Progressive Field in Cleveland. It's a far cry from when that ballpark was known as Jacobs Field in the '90s and it was arguably the toughest ticket in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball. More sparse crowds are very likely tonight & tomorrow in the getaway game at 11a (Chicago Time). How times have changed!
