Farmer: ...from Myrtle Beach. Ever been to Myrtle Beach?...to play or vacation?

DJ: No, never been. You?

Farmer: Nope. Niether. Its 2 and 2....

I love those two guys. Seriously. I'd like to just sit in the booth with them and listen to them talk baseball.

Two guys that have little in common thrust into a baseball radio booth and told to go after it.

The results are pretty comical....and not in a good way.

I sometimes wonder why White Sox V.P. of Marketing & Broadcasting Brooks Boyer was so inclined to have these 2 guys as the play-by-play team for The SCORE/Chicago White Sox Radio Network when there's very little on-air chemistry between Ed Farmer & Darrin Jackson. After working with a real pro in John Rooney for 17 years before The SCORE replaced ESPN Radio as the Sox flagship & John left for St. Louis, I thought Ed would be better. Sox fans deserve better, and the same is true for Ken Harrelson & Steve Stone on TV.

If I posted this guess who would post next?

FACT: Have not heard or seen 1 inning of Sox baseball this year. Not avoiding, but havent looked either.

They both have such a herky jerky way of calling the game. DJ did it again yesterday, "We've got some WORK to DO". It sounds creepy when he says it. And Farmer's delivery is very rough. His sentence structure is just odd. There is nothing smooth about the broadcast.

In any case, I still enjoy listening to those goofballs. I like me a good train wreck....maybe that's why I am a Cubs fan.

Why is there always an extreme with your posts?

I don't think my opinion on DJ & Farmer is extreme at all.

Can you think of a worse duo?

Whenever you describe most things you use the word worst a lot. Just an observation.

No. I don't think so, unless of course those posts were about B&B, Notre Dame, Barry or Danny.

"They are so dug in on what they do is right in every aspect of the organization, they never admit a mistake and try to fix it. That is the White Sox way" Someone close enough to know.

You can add Lovie and the Bears and many other topics to that list.

Did that "someone close enough to know" leave all of that on your answering machine last night?

they are two of Jerry's pals. they have no other qualifications. how about hire a legit play by play guy? this organization is so cheap/lame/stupid.

although they do not hate each other like BF thinks.

Farmer with Rooney was great, but Farmer/Singleton and Farmer/DJ is priceless. I love having their broadcast on while I'm driving someone who isn't familiar with it. The facial expressions, reactions, and questions that have spawned from this are gold. DJ came to this booth after years of on-air verbal abuse by Hawk, so he's a bit defensive, but it's gotten better. Farmer/Stone was legendary.

Everytime I hear something for this thread, I hear 4 more before I post again.

DJ really shouldn't bring up fans dressed as seats elsewhere.

What are these guys' ratings? If "good 'nuff" then there's a contract that doesn't have to be eaten. Besides, it's a weird, dada-esque conversation those two are having.
