This thread is to remind Spanky every time Adam Dunn crushes a baseball into the seats on his way the 2012 AL homerun title. Don't forget to stop in now and then, Frank! |

Dunn hits only 3 HRs after all star break. |

See, this thread would have been great, just like the last one - but then a crazy statement like "Adam Dunn will win the AL HR title" goes and fouls the whole thing up. These threads are designed to fail. |

So in his last 5 plate appearances, he has 3 walks and a a homer. Getting on base at a .370 clip, which is just 4 points shy of his career mark. He batted 60+ points less and had 2 HRs, 10RBI, last April. He IS back. |

6 HR, 16 RBI, .370 OPB, and about a quarter of the walks he got all of last season. Back. I mean, of course he is no Brian LaHair, but not every team can be that lucky. Though I'll say this about LaHair, he either has good taste in music or is smart enough to hate Rush |

No way in hell Dunn is even in the top 3 for HR leaders at the end of the season. JORR, can you pass me some of that cocaine you have? |

I suppose you think that Grampa Andruw Jones can keep up his pace, or that Josh Hamilton will stay sober/healthy for the whole year. |

And I don't buy any of them leading the AL in HRs. Miggy would obviously have the best shot, but its not easy to hit HRs at Comerica. The likes of Billy Butler and Matt Weiters will be nowhere near the top of the list at the end of September. |

Well, I'm fairly certain that oddsmakers would have him among the favorites to lead the league if they were making a line today, but you're the one who suggested I might be on narcotics to hold such a belief. So I'm just asking about what you'd offer. If you want to give me 2-1 that he won't be in the top 3 in the AL, I'll go for a hundred. |

Since Dunn hit one tonite and is now tied for 6th in the AL, my list of who might lead the AL in HRs who are tied or behind Dunn right now; Jose Bautista Adam Dunn I'd say Evan Longoria if he weren't out the next several weeks. Now if I had said any or all of those 3 before the season started, it wouldn't sound crazy at all. Hell Dunn would be the craziest name on there. Mark Texiera and Mark Reynolds are also behind Dunn at this point, and they were #2 and #3 in the AL HR rankings last year. Edit- sorry, they were #3 and #4 |

Longoria is out for 8 weeks, isn;t in the top 13 right now, and you ranked him as your third option to lead the league in HR's. I quit. |

You've gotta give me better odds for him to lead the league. He's the most consistent power hitter in the league. I'm pretty sure he'll end up in the top three. Anyone can get an extra one or two and take the title. |

spanky wrote: Joe Orr Road Rod wrote: He's the most consistent power hitter in the league. Wait. What? Who else has hit 40 homeruns six times and 38 a couple more? Lots of guys have a bad year. I know Dunn's was incredibly awful, but you seem to be eager to use it to define his career in spite of the fact that his numbers through the first month of 2012 look far more like those 8 seasons than like last year. And it makes me think you're just trolling Sox fans, because it's such a nonsensical position and I know you're not dumb. |

My initial reaction is to take you up on your 2:1 bet but I'm not the type to make spur of the moment decisions, so let me sleep on this one. |

I would say Alex Rodriguez has been the most consistent power hitter in the league. |

A-Rod has hit 30 or more 14 times. He's hit 40 or more 8 times. |

No. We'll take a vote of a 100 sports fans and ask them who is the most consistent power hitter in the AL - ARod or Dunn? I say at least 51 say A-Rod. $100. Are you game? |
