KISS sucks, but that's not why I called. Sox are in Motown, the home of Emeneminenen, Bob Seger, and that trailer trash guy...Bob Rock, or whatever. Matchups: Tonight: Peavy/Smyly Sat: Floyd/Scherzer Sunday: Sale/Porcello If you want numbers, go look them up...or wait for SHARK to come in and provide us all with their blood types and favorite Svengoolie moments. Whatever Sox win 1 |

Best thing about this series is that Danks doesn't pitch. Got a feeling Sox take at least 2 of 3, possibly sweep. |

If Floyd could keep his head out of his ass, they could sweep. I think tonight may be one of those 1-0 type games. |

Consider yourselves warned. Tomorrow's White Sox/Tigers' game is "MLB on FOX's" feature game. Matt Vasgersian, who normally hosts the new look, MLB Network-powered pregame from the MLBN studios in Secaucus, NJ, calls the game with Tim McCarver at 3:10p. Keep count of how many times Vasgersian calls White Sox 3B (for now) Brent Morel "Brent Moral" during the broadcast. Eric Karros called Morel that at least twice when he & Dave Sims called Philip Humber's perfect game during the White Sox first appearance on "FOX Saturday Baseball" about 2 weeks ago in Seattle. |

SHARK I think you're off base here. Matt Vasgersian is a very good play by play guy. McCarver not withstanding, the telecast shouldn't be as bad as Joe Buck. Also, who the hell cares if a name is slightly mispronounced? |

Maybe Matt Vasgersian is just working with what he was given. |

As for Tim McCarver, is this guy as good as FOX Sports could bring us as its #1 analyst? Absolutely not! |

Thank you! Regardless of the announcers, this is another big series in an A.L. Central-filled month of games for the White Sox. The Tigers may still be the favorites, but they haven't exactly run away from any team in the early going. Make or break? Not by a longshot, but it could go a long way down the road. |

Personally, I agree, but if you listen to any of the other analysts on Fox, they are just as bad or worse. This is just in line with Summerall/Madden being the #1 team on Fox even though Summerall had died 3 years earlier. |

The lineup is in for tonight's first of 3 in Detroit. These are the guys who'll face lefty Drew Smyly in the first of 3: 30 Alejandro De Aza CF (L) Batting Average .260 10 Alexei Ramirez SS (R) .208 32 Adam Dunn DH (L) .247 14 Paul Konerko 1B (R) .344 12 A.J. Pierzynski C (L) .284 51 Alex Rios RF (R) .299 24 Dayan Viciedo LF (R) .213 22 Brent Morel 3B (R) .188 15 Gordon Beckham 2B (R) .203 If it were up to me, I'd flipflop the last 2 spots in the lineup. Jake Peavy takes a 3-1 record and a 2.67 ERA to the Comerica Park mound tonight. |

Why are we so concerned about batting averages? They hit what they hit! Why are you freaking out about a .500 or so start to the season? Did you expect them to contend for the division? Also, Morel 8 and Beckham 9 are the right spots in the lineup. Beckham has had a decent week, and if he keeps that up, I'd rather see him hit and get to De Aza, than hit, and watch Morel ground into a double play. |

Baseball is a funny game. I didn't expect to see a contender with these White Sox, and for all I know, they still might not necessarily contend in the A.L. Central over the long haul. Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint. The Tigers were the preseason faves to win this awful division from the getgo. So far, I don't think they've found their footing either. That's why they play the games. |

Overanalysis of Sabremetrics is one of the things that kill the true joy of watching the games people play. It makes every asshole in the world think they could run a team better than the folks that run the team are. Makes every asshole a pretend manager that absolutely knows that they can fill the lineup card out better than Robin Ventura (and Ozzie before him). Makes every asshole an amateur scout. MERRY CHRISTMAS, HOLY SHIT!!! Where's the asprin? |
