A friend of mine the other day who knows far more about baseball than I do said Floyd has much better "stuff" than Danks. I don't know too much about it but always thought I had heard Danks was better. Is this an easy question and if so can somebody answer it? |

They are equally as frustrating and inconsistent. Just by the eye test, I'd say Floyd on his best day has better "stuff" than Danks could on his best day. I thought Danks would be the better overall pitcher. Now I don't know what to expect when either of them take the bump. |

I'd say so, but lefties are more unusual so that makes them about even. Floyd reminds me of a 70s-80s guy with the big curveball. but you can't get that called a strike nowadays. |

It looked to me like Floyd was the better physically and Danks was better mentally, which is why I thought Danks would be the better pitcher. But both of them seem to struggle way more than they should. Frustrating to see talented guys not live up to what they are capable of doing. |

I agree they are both frustrating and I can't figure them out. Personally, I'd be willing to give them several more years to figure it out because pitchers are such tricky creatures and many "get it" later in their careers when they learn how to pitch. In any case, I am a Cubs fan who watches a lot of Sox games, but I feel I can still provide a pretty objective and fair view of the Sox players. |

Floyd is a "big stuff" guy. The kind who has flirted with no-hitters and may eventually get one. Way harder to hit than Danks on his best day. |

Yeah but every post you make, a lot of people think they're reading NSJ. |

Outside of Chris Sale, I think Gavin Floyd has the best "stuff" in the starting rotation. On days that he's on his game, he's dominant, but it seems as if he'll never be more than a #3 type starter because he has too many poor outings mixed in. |

My friend of a friend faced Garland and he said he had one of the best 'disappearing' sinkers he'd ever seen. One time after he faced Garland he laughed with Konerko saying thank god he walked him because he couldn't see his sinker. Konerko told him he heard that at least 2-3 times a game when Garland pitched. |
